Overview

We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our team in Pensacola, Florida. In this role, you will provide advanced scientific and technical expertise within your area of specialization, serving as a project manager, lead scientist, and technical consultant on complex and strategic assignments. You will lead scientific investigations, develop innovative solutions to challenging technical problems, manage client relationships and projects, and contribute to business development efforts. This position plays a key role in advancing scientific excellence, supporting major company programs, and mentoring technical professionals across the organization.

Your Role

  • Provide scientific and technical leadership across diverse projects within your area of expertise.
  • Serve as a project manager, lead scientist, or technical consultant for complex assignments.
  • Define project scope, objectives, schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Identify client opportunities, market company services, and support business development activities.
  • Develop, prepare, and submit technical and commercial proposals.
  • Select and investigate scientific and technical problems, developing innovative approaches and solutions.
  • Perform research, analysis, and scientific evaluations on unique, complex, or controversial issues.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews of calculations, testing activities, technical reports, and project deliverables.
  • Perform site visits and project observations as required.
  • Plan, organize, and oversee the work of junior scientists, technicians, and support staff.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical training to less experienced personnel.
  • Stay current with emerging scientific methods, technologies, and industry developments.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to scientific methods, programs, and processes.
  • Lead projects from initiation through completion, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.
  • Represent the company in meetings, conferences, and technical discussions with clients, regulatory agencies, and industry organizations.
  • Defend and present technical work to clients, regulators, and stakeholders as required.
  • Serve as an expert witness in hearings, legal proceedings, or regulatory matters when appropriate.
  • Participate in scientific and professional organizations, including leadership roles where applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About You

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor'S or Master's degree in a scientific discipline relevant to the position.
  • Typically requires 10 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 9 years of experience with a Master's degree.
  • Typical incumbent possesses 12 to 15 years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in scientific research, technical problem solving, and project execution.
  • Experience managing technical projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong analytical, technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise sound scientific judgment.
  • Experience reviewing technical calculations, analyses, reports, and project deliverables for quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex scientific and technical challenges.
  • Strong client relationship management and business development capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or graduate-level coursework in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Experience leading proposal development and winning new business opportunities.
  • Demonstrated record of technical publications, conference presentations, or participation in technical committees.
  • Experience mentoring and developing junior technical staff.
  • Project management training or experience managing large, complex projects.
  • Active participation in professional or scientific organizations.

  • Professional certification, registration, or licensure may be required depending on the scientific discipline and project requirements.
  • Ability to represent the organization effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, industry groups, and other external stakeholders.
  • Proven capability to provide technical leadership on projects with significant business, regulatory, or operational impact.

Additional information

Expected compensation range is between $140,000-$160,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
