Overview

The purpose of this position is to manage engineering activities for the Delivery Areas and to ensure that targets are being met and progress being delivered for the Authority managed Projects. Additionally, the purpose is to identify, develop, promote Programme / Portfolio.Management policies and provide progress reports as and when required.

Your role

  • Supporting the leadership and management of client.
  • Providing vision, leadership and strategic direction for client.
  • Delivering the strategy of client through creation of the right interfaces and interactions.
  • Ensuring adequate and appropriate resources for client.
  • Ensuring effective communication through client and through good stakeholder management.
  • Facilitating the translation of strategy into planning and delivery across client.
  • Maintaining high standards of health and safety.
  • Complying with all protocols, policies and procedures in relation to all staff related matters.
  • Promoting continuously and making an influence of a positive safety culture.
  • Providing a coherent report performance against the plan to the management.
  • Providing leadership to balance value, quality, time and cost drives.
  • Guiding, inspiring, motivating and encouraging a high performing team environment.
  • Providing strategic direction, governance and leadership.
  • Establishing procedures across client to enable continuous learning.
  • Engaging with HR on all aspects of recruitment and personnel management.

About you

Mandatory requirements

  • University degree from a recognised university in an appropriate field such as Engineering or
  • Architecture or equivalent.
  • Chartered status or Professional License from internationally recognized professional
  • institutions or organizations.
  • Minimum of 25 years postgraduate experience with experience in major infrastructure projects or programmes. Preference will be given to roads, aviation, structures or rail related experience, 10 years in similar position, and 5 years in Qatar and / or the Gulf region.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills in English.

Desirable requirements

  • Evidence of suitable professional qualification CEng or equivalent is preferable.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills in Arabic

Skills and Competencies

  • Experienced in the Programme / Portfolio Management.
  • Desirable to have experience in working with and within government agencies or clients side generally at a senior level.
  • Demonstrable track record in the delivery of large multidisciplinary projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering procedures.
  • A "rounded profile", with experience of leading multidisciplinary engineering/design teams.
  • Effective in building good working relationships within complex structures, both internally and with various project stakeholders.
