How will you make your impact?

The Substation Design Engineering Intern will support the design and development of high-voltage substation and power infrastructure projects while working alongside experienced engineers. This internship provides students with hands-on exposure to engineering design, technical documentation, equipment selection, and project execution within the power industry.

The role is designed for students pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering who are interested in developing practical experience in power systems, renewable energy, and grid modernization projects. Interns will gain valuable industry knowledge and contribute to real-world infrastructure projects while building a strong foundation for a future career in engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and development of high-voltage substations and electrical infrastructure projects.
• Support the preparation of engineering drawings, layouts, schematics, and design documentation.
• Perform basic engineering calculations and technical analyses under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Assist with equipment research, specification development, and selection activities.
• Participate in design reviews and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
• Support protection and control, physical layout, and electrical system study activities.
• Review technical specifications, engineering standards, and project requirements.
• Assist project teams during engineering, procurement, and construction phases as needed.
• Contribute to engineering quality initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
• Complete assigned technical tasks while gaining exposure to industry best practices and engineering processes.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Preferred standing as a Junior or Senior (3rd or 4th year student).
• Basic understanding of power systems and electrical engineering fundamentals.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or other engineering design software is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
