Overview

We have a great opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Assistant Geotechnical Engineer or Geotechnical Engineer, located in our Cambridge office to support our impressive current portfolio of prestigious projects both in the UK and internationally. We need to increase our team to meet the growing demands from our clients, both in the infrastructure sector (particularly water, highways & rail) and the energy sector, which includes renewable energy, low carbon engineering and nuclear power. As one of the UK's leading geotechnical consultancies, AtkinsRéalis offers a comprehensive service in ground engineering. Your role

  • In Cambridge, you'll join a growing, close-knit team where your contributions matter, and you can build strong, collaborative relationships.
  • Our team of five geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists work together on a diverse range of strategic projects across the highways, water and energy sectors, giving you the chance to make a meaningful impact in the local area.
  • You will be an Assistant Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist or Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist with a degree in civil engineering or geology/geoscience and a post graduate qualification in a geotechnical subject.

About you

  • A good academic background with a degree (ideally MSc or equivalent).
  • Geotechnical design experience of structures, foundations and earthworks.
  • A good understanding of ground investigation techniques.
  • Proven site experience including ground investigation supervision, site walkover surveys/ geotechnical inspections.
  • A valid UK driving license.
  • Experience from working in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment.
  • A desire to drive digital innovation and experience with software packages, e.g. QGIS, OpenGround, PowerBI.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients and engineers from other disciplines.
  • Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
  • A willingness to travel on short assignments both within the UK and overseas.
  • Working towards Chartered status.
