Overview

We are currently seeking a highly experienced Interior Designer to join our team for a prestigious Metro Rail Project. This project involves the development of world-class stations featuring state-of-the-art architecture and interior design. The role will be responsible for overseeing the development of design (by others) to ensure high quality outcomes, including with respect to aesthetic and end-user experiences, coordination, integration and selection of materials. This role requires a good level of knowledge and experience in high-quality interior design, the selection of materials, samples and mock-ups, and coordination with and between multi-disciplinary design and engineering disciplines, and contractors.

The Interior Designer will play a critical role in reviewing and approving the interior designs proposed by D&B contractors, ensuring they meet applicable standards and align with the high standards of quality expected by the client. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in interior design, particularly in transportation projects, and will be proficient in using advanced design and design assessment tools. This role requires collaboration with other architects and other, multi-disciplinary design professionals within the team.

Your role

  • Oversight of the interior design elements, including the review of the Contractors' design proposals and options, material selection, detailing, integration of services and equipment within the overall context, considerations for operations and maintenance, as well as the quality of on-site construction and installation.

  • Evaluate and approve interior design submissions of samples, mock-ups, design and shop-drawing information from D&B contractors, ensuring compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and client expectations.

  • Conduct thorough reviews of design documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project requirements.

  • Discuss and resolve comments on Contractors' designs, ensuring all feedback is addressed appropriately.

  • Address design-related issues and challenges promptly, providing effective solutions to maintain project progress.

  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their vision and expectations and ensure these are reflected in the design approvals.

  • Work closely with architects, engineers, discipline reviewers and other design professionals to integrate interior design elements seamlessly into the overall project.

  • Utilize advanced design and design review tools and software, including BIM, and other state-of-the-art applications, to review and refine design proposals.

  • Uphold project timelines and client satisfaction while ensuring the creative intent remains uncompromised.

  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in interior design and incorporate innovative solutions into the project.

  • Advice on sourcing and selection of appropriate materials, finishes, and furnishings that meet the project's'aesthetic and functional requirements.

  • Explore opportunities to incorporate sustainable design practices and materials to enhance the environmental performance of the project.

  • Develop and optimize space plans to ensure efficient use of space and enhance user experience.

  • Review and guide contractors' design proposals with emphasis on conceptual integrity, materials, lighting, and experiential quality.

  • Evaluate Contractor's design submissions for samples, and mock-ups for coherence with the overall design language and client expectations.

  • Coordinate with construction teams to ensure the accurate implementation of interior design elements.

  • Ensure all interior design work complies with relevant international and local building codes, regulations, and safety standards.

  • Oversee the preparation of detailed design documentation, including specifications, schedules, and reports, to support project execution.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers and other team members, fostering professional growth and development.

  • Ensure that Contractors' designs satisfy all project requirements. Manage any proposed deviations through the appropriate technical and commercial processes.
