Purpose of the role

Are you a MEICA professional passionate about improving the reliability, resilience, and performance of water and wastewater assets? In this role, you will help the UK's leading water companies transform how they operate and maintain their asset base — from treatment works and pumping stations to ICA systems and network infrastructure.

You'll apply your deep technical expertise and frontline operational insight to help clients reduce failures, optimise maintenance, strengthen regulatory performance, and deliver better outcomes for customers and the environment. Working at the intersection of engineering, analytics, and asset strategy, you'll shape how water companies prepare for PR24/PR29, meet environmental obligations, and support long‑term asset planning.

Join us and play a central role in the sector's journey toward smarter, more resilient, digitally enabled asset management.

Your Role

Strategic Asset & Maintenance Leadership (Water Sector Focus)

  • Develop asset health and maintenance performance frameworks tailored to water/wastewater treatment, networks, and ICA systems.
  • Align strategies to Ofwat expectations, resilience metrics, and company performance commitments.
  • Define criticality, levels of service, and risk‑based interventions consistent with water sector standards and good practice.

Client Advisory & Sector Engagement

  • Act as a trusted advisor to Water and Wastewater leadership teams, providing evidence‑based recommendations on investment, performance improvement, and operational risk.
  • Support clients in preparing for price review submissions, business plans, and regulatory assurance.
  • Build strong relationships with Operations, Maintenance, Asset Strategy, Engineering, and Capital Delivery teams.

Performance Management & Reliability Improvement

  • Develop KPIs and dashboards that reflect water industry needs customer interruption risk, environmental compliance, asset reliability, TOTEX impact, and serviceability.
  • Apply MEICA, reliability engineering, and data analytics to reduce unplanned outages, improve availability, and optimise routine and reactive maintenance.

Innovation, Digital & Continuous Improvement

  • Support the adoption of digital telemetry, condition monitoring, treatment process analytics, and predictive maintenance tools.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance maintenance planning, work execution, OT/ICA reliability, and SCADA integration across treatment and network assets.

Asset Health Matrix Development (Water-Specific Application)

  • Design Asset Health Matrices tailored to treatment process equipment, pumping systems, rotating machinery, ICA, and critical network assets.
  • Integrate operational data, work orders, PPM/CM ratios, compliance history, catchment risk, environmental drivers, and telemetry signals.
  • Support water companies in establishing transparent, defendable health scoring for AMP cycles and regulatory submissions.

Maintenance Data Analytics & Reliability Insights

  • Analyse CMMS/EAM datasets to uncover trends such as rising failure rates, non‑compliance risks, root causes of downtime, and poorly performing asset classes.
  • Use RCA/FMEA approaches to identify recurring MEICA‑based failures across treatment works and networks.
  • Forecast deterioration and recommend optimised PM strategies, spares policies, and refurbishment plans that improve service resilience and reduce TOTEX.

Asset Strategy, Capital Planning & AMP Preparation

  • Develop risk‑based investment plans aligned with environmental compliance, service resilience, and PR24/PR29 outcomes.
  • Support scenario modelling for long‑term asset planning, including climate resilience, growth, ageing infrastructure, and emerging regulatory pressures.
  • Prepare options appraisals and performance‑risk evidence packs suitable for executive review and regulatory scrutiny.

Regulatory Alignment & Assurance (Water Sector)

  • Map maintenance and asset decisions to regulatory frameworks such as Ofwat, the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI), and the Environment Agency.
  • Support ISO 55001 alignment and audit readiness for asset management systems.
  • Embed ALARP‑based decision making for operational and environmental risks.
