Overview

As a senior Bridge Engineer in our Bridges and Civils team within our Transportation business based in Stockton, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of transportation. We work on a number of exciting, high-profile projects and frameworks for our many key Clients within our Strategic Highways, Local Transport & Rail markets as well as wider non-transportation projects both in the UK and overseas.

We're proud to be delivering a range of high‑profile and meaningful infrastructure projects across the region, with a strong pipeline of future work where you can play a key role within our Bridges & Civils Team. Current projects include the refurbishment design of the iconic Tees Transporter Bridge in Middlesbrough and the Principal Inspection of the Northern Spire Bridge in Sunderland, alongside multiple inspection and assessment commissions for our local authority clients.

Your role

As part of our team, you'll also have opportunities to collaborate with specialist groups and contribute to major projects across the UK, broadening your experience and impact.

Using your technical and delivery skills, you will be responsible for delivering a variety of civil and structural design packages and projects for new build highways and rail schemes, renewals schemes, assessment works and asset management schemes. Your duties will include leading the management of both individual design packages and entire projects, supporting project resourcing and financial control to ensure our schemes are delivered profitably, to programme, and in accordance with AtkinsRéalis' quality assurance systems.

You will have a background in civil engineering design, and an interest in the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects within highways, rail or local authority environments. You'll be familiar with working in large, geographically dispersed multidisciplinary design teams on projects at varying stages of development from feasibility through to detailed design.
