Overview
We are seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist/Group Manager to join our Tampa, FL office.
This role will lead and manage a group of junior and senior scientists as well as participate in projects throughout the state of Florida and beyond. You will work with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to support utility, transportation, port, aviation, and water resource efforts. Projects include a wide range of focus, from restoration, sustainability, resiliency, nature-based solutions, and mitigation to permitting. You will have opportunities to lead technical execution of ecological projects and participate in business development.
The Ecological Sciences group at AtkinsRéalis focuses on independent science-based projects as well as project support for the engineering disciplines. Efforts include water quality and quantity evaluations, seagrass restoration, threatened and endangered species surveys, seagrass and wetland delineations, tree surveys, and permitting.
Your role
- Group Management – You will lead and manage a team of junior and senior staff, including mentorship, performance reviews, and administrative tasks. Business development, such as client interfacing, identifying new opportunities, and preparing proposals for federal, state, and local projects will also be required.
- Project / Task Management – You will manage projects from both internal and external clients, balance workloads, and adhere to client expectations, budgets, and schedules.
- Technical Contributions – You will lead and assist with field activities, research, and compilation of data to support ecological data collection, regulatory permitting and compliance, as well as reporting. Fieldwork activities typically include seagrass and wetland delineation and monitoring, threatened and endangered species surveys and relocations, environmental compliance, water quality data collection, and stream surveys. Additionally, you will independently interface with both internal and external clients and regulatory staff to accomplish project directives.

About you
- B.S., B.A., M.S., in a field of Science such as Environmental Science, Marine Science, Biology, Ecology, or other related natural science.
- Typical incumbent has at least ten years' experience.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, technical writing, computer and communication skills required.
- Project management experience for environmental projects such as execution and preparation of scope of work, budgets, and schedules.
- Desire and ability to lead business development efforts, develop and maintain client relationships, as well as lead and deliver work.
- Participation in projects with large-scale consultation needs with USACE, USFWS and FWC.
- Professional certifications (e.g., PWS, CSE, PMP) considered a plus, but not required.
- Position requires driving a company vehicle; incumbent must have valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company policy.
- Travel will be required, but infrequent (~10%)
- Hybrid work environment typically requires two to three days in office.

Additional information
Expected compensation range is between $80,600 - $134,300 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
