Overview
This role is for a Structural Engineer II - Building Structures within the Building Structures Practice of the Global Technology Center, primarily supporting projects in Canada and other global regions.
The Structural Engineer II is responsible for independently delivering structural engineering design packages for building projects across concept, preliminary, and detailed design stages. The role involves structural analysis, design development, technical documentation, multidisciplinary coordination, and application of engineering judgment to develop safe, efficient, sustainable, and constructible structural solutions.
Working closely with project teams across regions, the Engineer II contributes to high-quality project delivery while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, project requirements, and quality assurance processes.
Your Role
Independently develop structural analysis models and perform analysis for reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, timber, and other building structural systems as applicable.
Design complete structural systems and structural elements in accordance with applicable codes, project requirements, and engineering best practices.
Deliver assigned structural design packages, calculations, reports, specifications, and supporting technical documentation with limited supervision.
Evaluate structural behavior under gravity, wind, seismic, and other applicable loading conditions.
Prepare design information, mark-ups, sketches, and technical instructions for BIM and CAD teams.
Coordinate effectively with architectural, civil, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, and other disciplines to support integrated project delivery.
Participate in design reviews, interdisciplinary coordination meetings, and technical discussions with project stakeholders.
Apply engineering judgment to resolve routine and moderately complex design challenges.
Ensure all assigned work complies with applicable building codes, standards, client requirements, and company quality procedures.
Conduct self-checks and quality reviews of design calculations, models, drawings, and reports before submission.
Support construction-stage activities including technical queries, RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, and engineering clarifications.
Assist in coaching Graduate Engineers and Engineer I staff on technical tasks and engineering best practices.
Maintain awareness of evolving industry standards and contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing initiatives within the practice.

Desirable Requirements
Experience supporting Canadian building projects.
Exposure to BIM-based project delivery environments.
Working knowledge of Revit Structure and multidisciplinary coordination processes.
Understanding of construction-stage engineering support activities.
Progress toward professional registration such as P.Eng., IStructE, ICE, or equivalent professional accreditation.
Experience contributing to technical improvement initiatives, knowledge-sharing activities, or engineering best-practice development.
