Overview

We are seeking an Aviation Project Manager to join our team in Denver, CO.

Your role

  • Our growing aviation team as an Aviation Project Manager in Denver, CO and play a pivotal role in shaping critical airport infrastructure that impacts communities and connectivity nationwide.

  • Leads the full lifecycle of complex aviation design and construction projects—bringing together technical expertise, strategic leadership, and client partnership to deliver high‑impact, mission‑critical solutions.

  • Works at the intersection of engineering excellence and program delivery, ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with FAA and industry standards.

  • Collaborates with industry‑leading experts across disciplines, influencing major capital improvement programs while advancing your own career in a supportive, flexible hybrid work environment.

  • High‑visibility role ideal for professionals who thrive in dynamic, multidisciplinary settings and are motivated to drive innovation, deliver quality, and make a lasting impact on aviation infrastructure.

  • Owns project delivery from end to end.

  • Oversees scope, budget, schedule, quality, and risk across aviation projects.

  • Serves as a trusted client advisor.

  • Builds strong relationships with airport clients and represents AtkinsRéalis' full suite of capabilities with minimal oversight.

  • Leads capital improvement program (CIP) efforts.

  • Supports clients through planning, grant applications, design, procurement, construction administration, and closeout.

  • Drives technical excellence.

  • Provides oversight on facilities, airfield and landside infrastructure design; review engineering concepts, plans, and specifications to ensure quality and compliance.

  • Coordinates across disciplines.

  • Partners with engineers, subconsultants, and technical teams to deliver integrated solutions.

  • Guides project planning and execution.

  • Develops and manages cost estimates, staffing plans, schedules, and budgets.

  • Solves complex engineering challenges.

  • Evaluates alternatives, mitigates risks, and implements practical, cost‑effective solutions.

  • Mentors and develops talent.

  • Supports and coaches junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a high‑performing team environment.

  • Engages with key agencies.

  • Collaborates with the FAA and DEN DEC on grants, inspections, and construction administration.

  • Supports construction oversight.

  • Ensures quality assurance and field coordination through project delivery.

  • Independently develops and manages project work plans, schedules, and budgets.

  • Takes corrective action as necessary.

  • Actively manages project budgets and profitability.

  • Analyzes financial reports and ensures timely billing and collections.

  • Serves as the primary point of contact on assigned projects.

  • Drafts routine contract addenda and change orders for review by senior management.

  • Directs and coordinates the work of the project team.

  • Provides informal guidance to Associate PMs and technical staff.

  • Performs all other duties assigned.

About you

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering or a related field.

  • Requires 8 years of experience in aviation engineering and/or project management, with increasing responsibility, to include 3 years of project management experience.

  • PMP Certification, CCM (Certified Construction Manager) or equivalent is desirable, or actively working towards certification.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred).

  • Proven experience managing airport or aviation facilities or infrastructure projects.

  • Strong understanding of FAA standards, funding processes, and airport development programs.

  • Excellent communication and client management skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Demonstrated success managing budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Unifier is a plus.

  • Strong technical writing and documentation.

Additional information

Expected compensation range is between $99,000-$165,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
