Engineer, Mechanical / Building Services

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical / Building Services Engineer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of MEP engineering services across building, mission-critical and infrastructure projects. The role combines hands-on engineering design and technical review with multidisciplinary coordination, client and contractor engagement, and construction-stage. The level of appointment will be determined based on the candidate's technical capability, project leadership experience and professional qualifications.

Your role

  • Lead and coordinate MEP design activities through feasibility, concept, detailed design, tender and construction stages.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, design reports, specifications, equipment schedules, drawings and other technical deliverables.
  • Provide technical input on mechanical / building services design, including air-conditioning, ventilation, chilled-water systems, heat-load calculations, equipment selection, plantroom planning, spatial coordination and controls/BMS interfaces and power systems.
  • Ensure designs comply with project requirements, applicable statutory regulations, codes, standards and internal quality procedures.
  • Coordinate between project team members, clients, government, architect, and sub-consultant to facilitate project implementation.
  • Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, material submissions, technical queries and design changes.
  • Conduct site surveys and inspections, support testing and commissioning activities, and follow technical and construction issues through to closure.
  • Manage assigned deliverables, program, resources, technical risks and project budgets, with timely escalation of scope or commercial issues.
  • Identify opportunities, lead and support business development and work winning / bidding activities.
  • Establish, develop and maintain relationships with key existing and prospective clients.
  • Supervise and mentor engineers and junior team members, ensuring consistent technical quality and effective teamwork.

About you

  • Degree holder or above in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 3-8 years of post-graduate experience in mechanical, electrical or building services engineering, preferably within an engineering consultancy.
  • Experience in technically complex projects, design-and-build projects or construction-stage technical support will be an advantage.
  • Professional qualifications such as HKIE, CIBSE, IMechE, IET or equivalent will be an advantage.
  • Good understanding of Hong Kong statutory requirements, design standards, submission procedures and construction practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in design coordination, technical reviews, contractor submission reviews, site inspections, testing and commissioning, and resolution of construction-stage issues.
  • Able to lead assigned work independently, exercise sound engineering judgement and deliver high-quality outputs within agreed program and budget constraints.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work constructively with clients, contractors, multidisciplinary teams and junior colleagues.
  • Collaborative, responsive and practical, with a positive working attitude and willingness to take ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Hands-on experience in setting up, running and interpreting Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyses will be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled tools and digital workflows that enhance design quality and delivery efficiency.
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
