Overview

AtkinsRéalis has one of the most experienced environmental and geosciences engineering consulting teams in Canada and is currently seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Fort St John, BC team. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing fundamental tasks related to Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments and land Reclamation activities, including groundwater monitoring and sampling, remedial excavations, spill response and vegetation assessments. Other technical responsibilities may include subcontractor supervision, project coordination, cost tracking, and report preparation for peer review.

Your role

  • Conduct historical data reviews and perform site inspections to support Stage 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Perform groundwater monitoring and sampling, hydraulic conductivity testing, and surface soil and water sampling to support environmental investigations.
  • Conduct soil vapour sampling and support the installation of groundwater monitoring wells and related field investigation activities.
  • Supervise drilling programs and remedial excavation activities, ensuring work is completed safely and in accordance with project requirements.
  • Maintain accurate photographic and written documentation of field activities and communicate site progress with on-site personnel and Project Managers.
  • Assist in building and maintaining client relationships through effective communication and coordination during project execution.
  • Prepare technical reports for internal review and contribute to health and safety programs while collaborating with teams across regions when opportunities arise.

About you

  • Diploma or Degree in a relevant discipline such as Engineering, Geology, Agrology, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field. You bring 0 to 3 years of work experience.
  • Ability to understand and appropriately apply safety procedures and technical field protocols.
  • Willingness to undertake year-round field work and travel throughout Western Canada, including extended rotations in remote locations.
  • Ability to work extended field shifts (up to 3 weeks), including weekends and statutory holidays, and overtime during field rotations (up to 12 hours per day) all year round under all weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be located in, or willing to relocate to, Fort St. John, BC.

Expected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $68,800 - $86,000 annually) (Only Applicable to British Columbia). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role.
