Overview
We are seeking a Project Manager/Owner's Representative - Food & Beverage to join our team in Minneapolis, MN.
Our U.S. team is growing. The Owner's Representative (OR)/Project Manager (PM) maintains a primary focus on practice-related services through the management and delivery of project management services, while also supporting internal business operations, including business development, financial management, and staff development activities.
The role has independent responsibility for assignments, including entire projects, as determined by management, where project scope and complexity are clearly defined.
This position is based in the Minneapolis office. The current need is for an OR/PM to support multiple large greenfield and brownfield food manufacturing plant projects, primarily located in the Midwest and Southeast regions of the United States. Typical assignments focus heavily on managing preliminary engineering services and preconstruction activities.
Your role
- Supporting development of contracting strategies aligned with project goals and objectives.
- Developing RFPs, facilitating bidding processes, leading bid meetings, evaluating bids, preparing scoring matrices, and recommending contract awards.
- Reviewing client contracts, advising on risks, recommending contract terms, supporting contractor performance, and assisting with commitment-based cost reporting.
- Supporting owner and engineer/contractor negotiations.
Engineering Management:
- Understand client needs and requests for preliminary engineering services based on the project or program development stage.
- Support clients in developing RFPs for engineering services and/or work with engineering teams to develop client proposals.
- Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for clients.
- Provide management, coordination, and oversight of engineering services throughout assignments.
- Support and advise on construction delivery methods.
- Frequently manage development of bridging packages up to 30% design completion for Design-Build bidding or subsequent design development.
Procurement Support:
- Support clients in developing RFPs and facilitate bidding and selection processes for engineering services, Construction Management (CM), Design-Build, and multiple-prime contractor services.
Cost Estimating Support:
- Work closely with internal estimating resources.
- Monitor estimating activities and help clients understand estimates and associated risks.
- Validate scope assumptions and package assumptions.
- Assist clients in reconciling contractor bids with estimates during schematic design reviews.
- Support understanding of bid gaps, bid spreads, clarifications, and exclusions.
- Assist with Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) negotiations and GMP cost validation through project development.
Schedule Management:
- Provide oversight to planning and scheduling teams in the development and implementation of master project schedules and scheduling strategies.
Project Controls:
- Recommend project controls processes, procedures, and reporting requirements.
- Support cost, schedule, and reporting tool selection.
- Work with project controls teams to enhance project cost and schedule management.
Project Oversight:
- Serve as an independent third-party advisor to clients regarding:
- Conflicts.
- Risks.
- Contract changes and amendments.
- Contractor and engineering interactions.
- Coordination with finance, procurement, operations, and other client teams.
Reporting:
- Provide executive-level reporting highlighting:
- Key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Project risks.
- Project status and progress.
Travel:
- Office-based or remote work may be permitted with regular travel to project sites.
- Travel requirements may range from 25% to 75%.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide management and daily leadership to AtkinsRéalis project teams or client teams.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, engineers, contractors, and consultants.
- Prepare, review, and manage project execution plans.
- Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and AtkinsRéalis service delivery.
- Identify resource requirements and assign responsibilities.
- Review project deliverables before client submission.
- Prepare for project reviews and quality assurance activities.
- Minimize project risks for both AtkinsRéalis and clients.
- Ensure project documentation is complete, current, and properly maintained.
- Review project hours and expenses regularly.
- Manage and review third-party engineering, contractor, and consultant contracts and invoices on behalf of clients.
- Support execution and filing of project legal documentation.
- Ensure professional execution of all assigned work and timely delivery.
- Complete complex assignments involving multiple disciplines and responsibilities.
- Make decisions extending beyond self-performed technical work and recommend execution strategies.
- Provide work guidance to team members and support professional development.

About you
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- 7 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Certifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP).
- PMI Global Accreditation Centre (GAC).
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM).
- Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM).
Preferred Experience:
- Demonstrated project management leadership experience in:
- Agribusiness.
- Food Manufacturing.
- Industrial Manufacturing projects.
- Projects across the full project lifecycle.
Industry Experience:
- Food manufacturing project experience.
- Thorough understanding of Industrial Manufacturing projects.
- Knowledge of project management principles, construction processes, equipment, and controls.
- Experience with cost modeling and risk analysis.
- General understanding of Primavera, Procore, or similar systems.
- Familiarity with document management software.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with:
- Microsoft Windows OS.

Additional Information
Expected compensation range is between $150,000 - $170,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
