Senior Fuel Engineering Analyst

Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Candu Energy Inc. is looking for a Senior Fuel Engineering Analyst to be a part of our team in the Fuel and Physics department supporting the design of new nuclear power plants and the operation and refurbishment of existing CANDU nuclear power plants.

Your role:

  • Perform, document, review, and/or verify technical analyses related to fuel design, fuel thermal-hydraulics, fuel operation and safety, ROP, and fuel cycles.

  • Interface with other related skills including deterministic safety analysis and physics.

  • Assist in the development of analysis basis plans, Design verification plan; design requirements, technical specifications, etc.

  • Develop design and analysis codes.

  • Produce high-quality reports effectively summarizing technical information.

  • Present results to internal and/or external stakeholders.

  • Collate, assimilate, and summarize results from existing analyses.

  • Follow the relevant procedures, guidelines and standards governing the work being performed.

  • Attend and participate in meetings at the office, remotely, or at client sites as needed.

  • Continually improve skills through instructor-led courses and/or on-the-job training.

About you:

  • Master's degree or equivalent or higher from a university of recognized standing

  • A minimum of 10 to 15 years of relevant experience or combination of experience and advanced education

  • Knowledge of thermal-fluid sciences (mechanical, fluid flow, heat transfers, multi-phase flow and thermodynamics);

  • Advanced knowledge of the CANDU design, with particular emphasis on the fuel design and operation, heat transport system and plant control, containment and moderator systems.

  • Proficiency in computer programming, especially python or Fortran.

  • Knowledge in developing finite element models and performing stress analysis

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required;

  • Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible, i.e., must be able to perform varied work assignments effectively and respond quickly to changing project needs;

  • Must be willing to travel occasionally to participate in meetings and workshops;

  • Full commitment to working in a formal QA environment.
