Overview
Our National Hydrogeology and Geothermal Team specialize in groundwater characterization, numerical groundwater modelling, groundwater resource assessment and impact analysis, contaminant hydrogeology, geothermal potential assessment, thermal response testing, and geothermal system design. We support a wide range of sectors across AtkinsRéalis, including transportation, infrastructure, water, defence, mining, industrial, nuclear, and power & renewables.
We are seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist to operate on the senior technical career track, providing advanced technical leadership, oversight, and assurance on complex projects nationally. This role is intended for a highly experienced professional recognized internally and externally for technical judgement, regulatory credibility, and scientific excellence, without formal line‑management accountability.
Location - Toronto, Hamilton, Vaughan, ON.
Your role
- Act as a senior technical specialist/subject matter expert in hydrogeology, groundwater and related disciplines.
- Lead and critique hydrogeological conceptual models, investigation programs, dewatering, and numerical modelling approaches to ensure alignment with best practice and regulatory expectations.
- Provide senior technical review and quality assurance of hydrogeology deliverables, methodologies, and interpretations.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to project managers, clients, and regulators.
- Provide senior technical input for civil and geotechnical design, permitting, environmental assessments, remediation strategies, and water resource decision making.
- Contribute to proposal development, project scoping, coordinating and planning, risk identification, and client inquiries from a technical perspective.
- Support technical innovation, service development, and strategic initiatives within the national hydrogeology and geothermal practices.

About you
- Bachelor'S or Master's degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related earth‑science discipline.
- Licensed professional (P.Geo. or P.Eng.) in good standing with the relevant provincial regulatory body in Canada.
- 20+ years of progressively responsible hydrogeology consulting experience, with demonstrated senior technical advisor responsibilities. Experience with numerical groundwater modelling and/or geothermal systems is a strong asset.
- Proven ability to author, review, and defend high‑quality technical deliverables and clearly communicate complex concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Strong working knowledge of provincial and federal groundwater, water‑resources, and environmental regulations.
- Work experience on Metrolinx projects is considered an asset

Expected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $113,600 - $156,200 annually) (Only Applicable to Ontario). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
