Overview

The Transmission, Distribution & Renewables group specializes in efficient and economical delivery of Power Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Projects – from project conceptualization, through engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning. Reporting to the Structural Team Lead, Substation & Lines Infrastructure, we have an opportunity for Structural Engineers to supplement the team in our Vancouver office.

Your role

  • Establish design criteria and design scope for each project based on contractual requirements, interdisciplinary input, and in line with best engineering practices.
  • Design structural works and supervise the preparation of drawings, including for buildings, structures, and foundations.
  • Prepare and file engineering calculations and technical specifications in line with the relevant quality system procedure, including following review and approval processes.
  • Prepare proposals, feasibility studies, conceptual designs, engineering estimates, and schedules.
  • Work with project team through the various project stages from conceptual design to detailed design, construction, commissioning and close-out. Perform interdisciplinary and peer reviews of engineering designs, drawings and reports.

About you

  • EGBC Professional Engineer registration in good standing or eligibility for registration with degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an EGBC recognized institution and program.
  • A minimum 5 years of experience computerized design of buildings, structural steel, concrete, masonry, architectural works, and plant site civil works using Canadian and US engineering codes and standards, including the analysis and design of foundations for heavy rotating equipment. Experience should relate to structural design in power transmission and distribution facilities, telecom tower facilities, renewable power plants, and heavy industrial facilities.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with STAAD.Pro and MS Office. Proficiency with Revit, SAFI Telecom, DYNA6.1, and PCA design programs is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, and high productivity while working in both independent and team environments. Ability to prioritize multiple multidisciplinary projects across multiple project teams is a must.
  • Experience in preparation of clear and comprehensive reports, technical notes, and client presentations. Fluency in both written and spoken English is a must. French language skills are considered an asset.

Additional information

Expected compensation for this role is between $100,200 - $137,700 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
