Technical Manager
Overview
AtkinsRéalis is one of Canada's largest private sector nuclear engineering groups. We have been providing a wide range of services to the nuclear industry in Canada and around the world for more than 60 years. We are proud to be the steward of Canadian CANDU nuclear technology.
Candu Energy Inc. is seeking a Technical Manager for a full-time, permanent position. This role requires a dynamic leader with strong technical and operational expertise, exceptional client relationship skills, and a proven track record of successfully delivering major projects. The successful candidate will join our team supporting both the design of new nuclear power plants and the operation, refurbishment of existing CANDU nuclear facilities, and other projects. This position reports to the Buenos Aires office Engineering Director.
Location – Buenos Aires, Argentina
Your role:
This position requires an individual who is self-motivated and capable of working independently and develop his/her career and experience in the nuclear field. The candidate shall be able to follow the instructions from a qualified professional engineer to complete the assigned mechanical related scopes or tasks and develop necessary engineering design documentation as required.
The qualified individual will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Develop and execute task plans to meet project objectives and manage technical integration and interface control across related disciplines.
Select and review engineering methods and materials to ensure safe, high‑performance structures, systems, and components.
Assign qualified staff to project roles aligned with their skills and provide coaching, supervision, and performance feedback.
Lead recruitment and training efforts while offering technical guidance to support team capability and project success.
Oversee technical deliverables to ensure compliance with budget, schedule, quality expectations, and applicable nuclear codes and standards.
Review and approve key technical documentation for the project or specific phases.
Identify and recommend improvements based on project needs and customer feedback, and liaise with internal and external engineering teams on technical matters.

About you:
University degree in an applicable field of engineering or science.
At least 3 years of experience in managing and/or performing safety and licensing work.
At least 5 years of applicable engineering experience including applicable experience prior to engineering management roles.
Sound knowledge of multiple engineering fields and of nuclear technologies.
Demonstrated skills in the management of several complex technical projects, leadership, and project management of a highly technical group.
Strong leadership and coaching skills in the development of team members and support staff.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English and Spanish) and interpersonal skills.
Exceptional client focus and conflict resolution skills.
Demonstrated business acumen – the ability to think, plan and negotiate strategically with a strong commercial orientation and good understanding of financial measurements.
Additional, preferred qualifications:
Ability to obtain and maintain a Reliability security clearance.
Experience in executing projects that are subject to import/export controls.
Experience in managing subconsultants and work sharing with other offices within a company.

Tu rol dentro del equipo:
Esta posición requiere una persona auto-motivada y capaz de trabajar de manera independiente y desarrollar su carrera y experiencia en el campo nuclear. El candidato debe ser capaz de seguir las instrucciones de un ingeniero profesional calificado para completar los alcances o tareas relacionadas con la mecánica asignadas y desarrollar la documentación de diseño de ingeniería necesaria según se requiera.
El individuo calificado será responsable de, pero no se limitará a, lo siguiente:
- Desarrollar e implementar planes para las tareas asignadas, asegurando su alineación con los objetivos del proyecto.
- Gestionar la integración técnica y el control de interfaces entre una o más disciplinas relacionadas dentro del proyecto.
- Seleccionar y revisar métodos de diseño y análisis, materiales, componentes, equipos y procesos para garantizar la seguridad y el desempeño de las estructuras, sistemas y componentes.
- Asegurar que el personal asignado al proyecto esté debidamente calificado, y que sus responsabilidades estén'alineadas con sus habilidades y experiencia.
- Brindar orientación, supervisión'y retroalimentación sobre el desempeño a los miembros del equipo.
- Coordinar iniciativas de reclutamiento y capacitación de personal.
- Ofrecer orientación técnica y conocimientos especializados para apoyar el desarrollo del equipo y el éxito del proyecto.
- Supervisar los entregables técnicos, garantizando el cumplimiento del presupuesto, cronograma y estándares de calidad.
- Asegurar que los entregables finales cumplan con los requisitos del cliente y con los códigos, regulaciones y normas nucleares aplicables.
- Revisar y aprobar la documentación técnica clave del proyecto o de fases específicas del mismo.
- Identificar y proponer mejoras de manera proactiva y en respuesta a los comentarios del cliente.
- Coordinarse con los equipos de ingeniería del cliente, tanto internos como externos, en asuntos técnicos, según lo delegado por el Director de Ingeniería.
