Technician/Technologist – Working Level

Overview

Candu Energy Inc., an AtkinsRéalis company, is currently looking for a Technician/Technologist – Working Level to join our engineering team in Sheridan Park, Mississauga, Ontario. Functionally reporting to the Candu Field Services Team, the Mechanical Technologist would support one of the various Reactor Inspection projects occurring on domestic or international CANDU Reactors. Significant travel should be expected.

Based on our current needs, opportunities are expected to be available starting immediately; positions are full time Technician/Technologist status at intermediate-senior levels.

Your role


At this time, this solicitation is for the following position, which may be changed to meet project requirements. Responsibilities (include, but not limited to):

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures and policies.
  • Assembly, repairing and maintaining of nuclear inspection and mock-up equipment.
  • Participate in equipment testing programs.
  • Prepare route sheets and edit documents.
  • Complete prioritized work requests on time.
  • Maintenance of contaminated nuclear tooling and refurbishment activities.
  • Provides recommendations and decisions of sufficient value to have significant impact on the outcome of the entire project or group.
  • Provides technical leadership and input to performance reviews.
  • Coordinate other technicians on project deliverables.
  • Coordinate manufacturing and RP work when needed.

About you

  • Diploma of Collegial studies in mechanical engineering technology, certificate of qualification from College of Trades and Apprenticeship or relevant technical experience.
  • Become a nuclear energy worker (NEW).
  • Working experience between 5 and 8 years in mechanical assembly/testing/repair of nuclear inspection tooling and shop equipment.
  • Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics, Swagelok training an asset.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Microsoft Word/Excel/Teams/Visio/SolidWorks.
  • Familiarity with nuclear standards an asset.
  • Demonstrate manual skills and dexterity.
  • Knowledge of established engineering design principles and methods.
  • Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Be willing to travel to vendor and project sites. (Durations of assignments can vary).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, efficient and effective communication (written and oral) and organization skills are essential.
  • Must be "Team" Oriented with a demonstrated ability to work well with others and promote a positive work environment.
  • Acts with initiative and independence under limited direction.
  • Has a working knowledge of industrial shop practices.
  • Competent working in a contaminated work environment with RPPE.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience an asset.
  • Demonstrate specialized knowledge and good general understanding of other fields.
  • Able to contribute sound judgement, possesses a keen sense of responsibility, and is reliable within carrying out duties.
  • Competent in leadership situations and delegating tasks.
  • Security Clearance will be required.
  • Passport needed for international travel.
