Trackwork / Railway Engineer

Overview

Please note that this job posting is intended for you to express your interest in future opportunities within AtkinsRéalis.

The Vancouver/Kelowna Rail Infrastructure team completes designs, studies, inspections and construction support for large and small railway projects across Canada and beyond. We collaborate with other engineering disciplines such as geotechnical, structural and electrical engineers, as well as other professionals such as surveyors and architects, to deliver coordinated and integrated designs for alignment, track details and adjacent infrastructure.

Your role

  • Join the Rail Infrastructure team on multidisciplinary projects to design, construct, assess, repair and study railway, track and related infrastructure.
  • Use engineering judgment, analysis, experience and relevant standards to develop project technical deliverables such as drawings, reports and specifications,
  • Perform calculations/checks and document reviews; participate in quality processes.
  • Lead small teams to complete project deliverables, and provide engineering oversight and support for junior engineering and technical staff.
  • Lead small projects from both a technical and project management perspective, with the support administrative and cost control teams.
  • Liaise with clients and other stakeholders to understand needs and find functional solutions for all parties; demonstrate strong leadership and effective communication with a variety of stakeholders
  • Within your sphere of influence as an individual contributor and/or project manager, support the Rail Infrastructure practice in achieving corporate targets.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Applied Science/Engineering.
  • 5+ years of design and/or construction experience in railway engineering or related field.
  • Assets: French language skills; ability to work in the Eastern timezone (Montreal/Toronto) from BC; ability to travel short-term.
  • Member in good standing with EGBC or with another Canadian engineering provincial association, or eligible to achieve professional designation from EGBC.
  • Strong communication skills.

Additional information

Expected compensation for this role is between $93,800 - $129,000 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
