Reporting to the Technical Training Development Manager, the Training Content Designer plays a key role in supporting Candu Energy's training transformation strategy, helping position the organization as a leader in the use of digital learning technologies that enhance workforce performance, improve safety outcomes, and enable innovative training solutions not achievable through traditional methods.

As a member of a multidisciplinary training team, the Training Content Designer will develop engaging and effective learning content, including digital learning materials, visual aids, simulations, computer-based training modules, and instructor-led presentations. These learning solutions will support employee onboarding, technical proficiency, professional development, and organizational capability growth across the business.

Leveraging modern learning technologies and tools, the role will also contribute to the administration and continuous improvement of the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring training content is effectively deployed, tracked, maintained, and accessible to learners.

Your role

  • Design, develop, and maintain engaging instructor-led, virtual, blended, and e-learning training solutions that support workforce development, onboarding, technical training, and organizational capability growth.
  • Collaborate with technical subject matter experts (SMEs), business leaders, and stakeholders to analyze learning needs and translate complex technical information into effective training content.
  • Create instructional design deliverables, including learning objectives, course outlines, lesson plans, curricula, storyboards, and training roadmaps aligned with business and performance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain training materials such as instructor guides, participant workbooks, job aids, quick reference guides, assessments, and visual learning resources.
  • Design and build interactive digital learning experiences, including computer-based training (CBT), simulations, scenario-based learning, videos, and e-learning modules using approved authoring tools (e.g., EasyGenerator).
  • Produce compelling visual content and multimedia assets that enhance learner engagement, knowledge retention, and safety awareness.
  • Support the development and deployment of innovative digital training technologies that improve training effectiveness, operational efficiency, and worker safety.
  • Review, evaluate, and update training content to ensure technical accuracy, instructional quality, regulatory compliance, and alignment with evolving business needs.
  • Gather and incorporate feedback from learners, SMEs, instructors, and stakeholders to continuously improve training programs and learner experience.
  • Apply adult learning principles and instructional design best practices to create effective and accessible learning solutions for diverse audiences.
  • Coordinate the publishing, testing, and maintenance of learning content within the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Support LMS administration activities, including course uploads, curriculum assignments, learner enrollments, completion tracking, reporting, and content maintenance.
  • Maintain content governance practices, including document control, version management, metadata standards, and training records.
  • Monitor emerging learning technologies, digital training trends, and industry best practices, recommending opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary project teams supporting the Training and Onboarding team and Candu Energy's broader digital learning transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure all training materials support organizational goals related to human performance, operational excellence, quality, compliance, and safety culture.

  • Primary work location will be in Mississauga, ON office.
  • Occasional travel to other project sites may be required.

About you

  • Diploma/Degree in adult education, instructional design, Human Resources, communications or similar program.
  • 5-8 years in Training & Content development including e-learning and utilization of AI assist tools (EasyGenerator).
  • 5-8 years of Learning Management System administration (in particular SAP SuccessFactors).
  • Nuclear Industry experience considered an asset.
  • Experience with technical writing and training coordination.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to adapt to last-minute changes and handle unexpected situations effectively.
  • Ability to work in office 5 days per week.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent internal customer relationship skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong sense of urgency and accountability.
  • Self-starter who can identify what needs to be done and take initiative.
  • Extremely detail-oriented.
