Want to move from HR to engineering in BIM?

Hello, my name is Nikita. AtkinsRéalis is the first company I joined as a dedicated HR professional, where I spent over three years hiring talented, deserving candidates and supporting smooth organizational operations. During that time, I truly enjoyed the role and took pride in helping the team grow in all aspects. I always felt a strong pull towards the technical world of engineering. I was fascinated by design, modeling and the idea of building something from scratch.

HR to BIM: Career Switch Success Story in India

What sparked my BIM career journey at AtkinsRéalis

As part of my role in HR recruitment, I was involved in hiring for positions in the BIM discipline. That's when I became captivated by the wide range of opportunities in the BIM world. The innovative projects—and the way AtkinsRéalis contributes to a better future for our planet and its people—ignited a spark in me. I realized my interest in technology wasn't just a passing curiosity; it felt like a true calling.

How online BIM certification courses helped me upskill

Determined to make a change, I started learning more and enrolled in online courses during my spare time. My background in HR gave me a unique perspective on teamwork and communication, which I used to collaborate effectively with fellow learners

Support systems that helped me switch careers at AtkinsRéalis

I'm especially thankful to my HR team—particularly my manager, Shijo—who supported me from the moment I first shared my plans. My time in HR also helped me build strong relationships with many of our business stakeholders and other leaders. Their guidance and encouragement were key in helping me understand the role and opportunities I've now stepped into.
