The Tailings, Water and Environment team is looking for an Environmental Scientist/Engineer to work on projects related to the mining environment. The Environmental Scientist/Engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers and environmental professionals and will be involved in small- and large-scale projects across the country and internationally. The work will include environmental site assessment, remediation, risk management and waste management associated with development, operations, decommissioning, closure, and monitoring at mining and metallurgical sites.
This role will be based in Vancouver, BC.
Your role
- Work directly with Project Managers and other project team members to meet client deliverables on time and on budget.
- Coordination and execution of field programs on a diverse range of sites (urban and remote), with a focus on health, safety, environment, and community. Includes intrusive investigations (drilling, test pitting, etc.); monitoring well installation; groundwater, surface water, porewater, sediment and soil vapour monitoring/sampling; remedial excavations and other specified tasks including supervision of subcontractors.
- Develop workplans, budgets and schedules for contaminated sites investigation or remediation projects particularly in the mining and industrial sectors.
- Apply a robust understanding and current knowledge of BC environmental regulations, protocols, and technical guidance documents (experience and knowledge of federal regulations is an asset).
- Prepare (for senior review) technical reports including: documenting of scope activities and execution methods; evaluation and interpretation of data, results, or findings; and preparation of conclusions and recommendations.
- Assist the project manager in management of budgets, schedule, communication, resources, HSE, and quality.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals in response to client's requests, RFQs and RFPs.

About you
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in environmental site assessment, risk management, and remediation. A focus on mining and/or metallurgical facilities (or equivalent experience) would be an asset.
- Proven expertise in developing environmental workplans, preparing cost estimates, coordinating and executing field data collection programs, supervising subcontractors, and conducting data analysis and technical report writing.
- Proficiency in applying BC environmental regulatory legislation (EMA, CSR, HWR, etc.), with a thorough understanding of contaminated sites assessment, remediation protocols, and BC mining regulations (Mines Act, Health, Safety, and Reclamation Code).
- Registered as a Professional Engineer or Geoscientist, or as an Engineer/Geologist-in-Training in BC, or be eligible for registration in any Canadian province.
- Project management experience, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.

Expected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $80,700 - $100,000 annually) (Only Applicable to British Columbia).
