Field Engineer - Mechanical

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Field Engineer - Mechanical to supervise and monitor mechanical construction activities for a prestigious large-scale development project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all mechanical systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, contractual requirements, and applicable codes. Working closely with the Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, MEP team, contractors, and stakeholders, the Field Engineer - Mechanical will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of complex building services systems across convention centers, hospitality facilities, hotels, resorts, and mixed-use developments.

Your role

  • Supervise and inspect mechanical construction works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Monitor installation activities related to HVAC systems, chilled water networks, ventilation systems, plumbing, drainage, firefighting systems, LPG systems, fuel systems, and associated mechanical infrastructure.
  • Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and technical submissions related to mechanical works.
  • Verify that mechanical equipment and materials comply with approved submittals and project specifications.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to approved installation standards.
  • Monitor contractor performance and construction progress against approved schedules and milestones.
  • Coordinate mechanical works with architectural, structural, electrical, and specialist systems to avoid clashes and interface issues.
  • Witness inspections, testing activities, pressure tests, flushing operations, balancing activities, and commissioning procedures.
  • Review Requests for Information (RFIs), technical clarifications, and field change requests.
  • Ensure implementation of Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) requirements for all mechanical installations.
  • Monitor compliance with international standards, local regulations, manufacturer recommendations, and project specifications.
  • Identify technical issues, construction constraints, and non-conformances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Verify quantity measurements and completed works for progress reporting and payment certification purposes.
  • Support project controls and reporting teams by providing accurate progress updates.
  • Participate in project meetings, technical workshops, coordination meetings, and site inspections.
  • Ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements are implemented during all mechanical activities.
  • Assist in managing snagging and de-snagging activities related to mechanical systems.
  • Monitor testing, commissioning, integrated system testing, and performance verification activities.
  • Support operational readiness, training, and handover of mechanical systems to the client and end users.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and project documentation.

About you

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 8+ years of overall professional experience in mechanical engineering and construction supervision.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Field Engineer, Mechanical Site Engineer, or Mechanical Inspector on major building projects.
  • Proven experience in large-scale buildings, convention centers, hotels, resorts, mixed-use developments, commercial complexes, or hospitality projects.
  • Experience within Site Supervision Consultancy, PMC, or Engineering Consultancy environments is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water systems, plumbing, drainage, firefighting systems, and mechanical building services.
  • Experience reviewing mechanical shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with international standards including ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, IPC, and relevant Saudi codes and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of testing, adjusting, balancing (TAB), commissioning, and handover processes.
  • Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) integration and smart building technologies is desirable.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC procedures, inspection processes, and construction management practices.
  • Previous experience in Saudi Arabia or GCC projects is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting capabilities.
  • Membership in a recognized professional engineering institution is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
