AtkinsRéalis is currently involved in several life extension projects for existing Candu plants. The fire protection systems are being upgraded to current Codes and standards.
AtkinsRéalis is looking to hire a Senior fire protection design engineer. The incumbent will lead senior and junior staff to develop the design of new fire protection systems and upgrading existing systems inside the reactor building. These include process design and development of piping layout including standpipes and hose cabinets.
Location – Mississauga, ON.
Your role
Lead a team of process engineers to execute design for fire protection systems inside a Candu reactor building.
Be able to prepare process documents such as flow diagrams, specifications, hydraulic flow calculations etc.
Support the delivery of project work within schedule and budgets.
Provide regular schedule update.
Support piping design team by providing process related input.
Review fire protection piping and cabinet design, material and equipment selection.
Monitor scope and raise change-order notice if the scope changes.
About you
- Engineering degree, a minimum of 10 years of experience, with at least 5 years of fire protection design experience.
- Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
- Experience working with NBCC, NFCC, CSA N293, NFPA 14
- Knowledge of CSA N393, NFPA 101, NFPA 72, NFPA 10, NFPA 13, NFPA 25, and NFPA 80 is an asset.
- Knowledge of piping Code ASME B31.1 and CSA B51 is an asset.
- Experience in leading team, managing schedule and budget, and reporting, to meet nuclear project goals. Being customer and end user centric, demonstrating good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team including other engineering disciplines.
- Strong communication skills, including delivering technical reports and specifications accurately and effectively.
