Overview
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to join a Site Supervision Consultancy team overseeing major building and hospitality developments in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with project environmental requirements, Saudi environmental regulations, client standards, and international best practices throughout all project phases. The Environmental Manager will lead the implementation and monitoring of environmental management systems, oversee environmental inspections and audits, manage environmental risks and impacts, and provide technical guidance to contractors and project stakeholders. The role requires extensive experience in large-scale construction projects, particularly within complex building, convention center, and hospitality developments, ensuring sustainable construction practices while minimizing environmental impacts.
Your role
- Develop, implement, and maintain the project's'Environmental Management Plan (EMP) in accordance with project requirements and applicable regulations.
- Ensure compliance with Saudi environmental legislation, municipal regulations, permit requirements, and client environmental standards.
- Monitor contractor compliance with environmental obligations, specifications, and approved environmental management procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and environmental assessments to identify potential risks and non-compliance issues.
- Review and approve contractors' environmental method statements, risk assessments, and environmental control measures.
- Monitor environmental aspects including waste management, air quality, dust control, noise and vibration, water management, hazardous materials, and pollution prevention.
- Lead investigations into environmental incidents, complaints, and non-conformances and ensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate with government authorities, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders on environmental matters and reporting requirements.
- Prepare and submit environmental performance reports, audit reports, and compliance documentation to the client and project management team.
- Promote environmental awareness and sustainability initiatives across the project team and contractor workforce.
- Ensure proper implementation of waste reduction, recycling, and resource conservation programs.
- Monitor environmental KPIs and develop improvement strategies to achieve project sustainability objectives.
- Support environmental permitting processes and ensure compliance with permit conditions.
- Participate in project meetings and provide expert environmental advice during construction activities.
- Review environmental impact assessments and recommend mitigation measures where necessary.
- Collaborate with HSE teams to integrate environmental requirements into overall project safety and operational plans.
- Support sustainability goals, green building initiatives, and environmental certification requirements where applicable.
- Manage environmental consultants, specialists, and subcontractors assigned to environmental-related activities.

About you
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Ecology, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
- Master's degree in Environmental Management or Sustainability is preferred.
- Minimum 12-15 years of experience in environmental management within large-scale construction, infrastructure, or building development projects.
- Previous experience on site supervision consultancy projects is highly preferred.
- Extensive experience in hospitality developments, convention centers, mixed-use developments, and large building projects.
- Strong understanding of Saudi Arabian environmental regulations and international environmental standards.
- Professional certifications such as ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, IEMA, NEBOSH Environmental Certificate, CESGA, or equivalent are preferred.
- Experience in implementing and auditing Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
- Demonstrated experience managing environmental compliance, permitting, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong knowledge of environmental monitoring techniques, reporting systems, and sustainability practices.
- Proficiency in environmental risk assessment and mitigation planning.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams and manage multiple stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and environmental reporting systems.
- Fluent in English; Arabic language skills would be an advantage.
