Overview

We are seeking an experienced Sustainability Manager to lead and oversee sustainability, environmental performance, and ESG initiatives for a major site supervision consultancy project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Sustainability Manager will be responsible for ensuring that sustainability objectives are effectively integrated into project planning, design review, construction supervision, commissioning, and handover activities. The role requires a strong understanding of sustainable building practices, green building certification systems, environmental management, resource efficiency, and decarbonization strategies. The successful candidate will work closely with the Client, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders to deliver environmentally responsible and sustainable developments aligned with international best practices and Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 objectives.

Your role

  • Develop and implement the project Sustainability Management Plan and monitor compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead sustainability initiatives across all project stages including design review, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.
  • Ensure project compliance with client sustainability requirements, environmental regulations, and international sustainability standards.
  • Provide sustainability guidance to project teams, consultants, and contractors.
  • Review design submissions and construction methodologies to ensure integration of sustainable design and construction practices.
  • Monitor project performance against sustainability targets, KPIs, and ESG objectives.
  • Support the achievement of green building certifications such as LEED, Mostadam, BREEAM, WELL, or equivalent.
  • Conduct sustainability assessments, audits, and performance reviews across project activities.
  • Drive initiatives related to energy efficiency, water conservation, carbon reduction, waste management, and sustainable procurement.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with approved environmental and sustainability requirements.
  • Review material submittals to ensure compliance with sustainable sourcing and environmental standards.
  • Promote the use of low-carbon materials, recycled content, and resource-efficient construction practices.
  • Develop strategies to reduce construction waste and improve circular economy practices.
  • Track and report project carbon emissions, environmental performance, and sustainability metrics.
  • Coordinate sustainability workshops and awareness programs for project stakeholders.
  • Support biodiversity, landscaping, and ecological enhancement initiatives where applicable.
  • Monitor indoor environmental quality requirements for hospitality and convention center facilities.
  • Review environmental impact mitigation measures and ensure implementation on site.
  • Prepare sustainability reports, dashboards, presentations, and compliance documentation for clients and management.
  • Coordinate with relevant authorities, certification bodies, and third-party sustainability consultants.
  • Support project handover activities by ensuring sustainability and certification requirements are fully achieved.

About you

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Master's Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Energy Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional accreditation such as LEED AP, Mostadam AP, BREEAM Assessor, WELL AP, ENV SP, or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 15+ years of overall professional experience in sustainability and environmental management within the construction industry.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a Sustainability Manager role on large-scale building developments.
  • Proven experience delivering sustainability strategies for major buildings, hotels, resorts, convention centers, mixed-use developments, and commercial projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of sustainable building design principles, energy-efficient systems, and environmental management practices.
  • Experience managing green building certification processes and stakeholder coordination.
  • Strong understanding of ESG frameworks, sustainability reporting, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of carbon accounting, net-zero strategies, climate resilience, and decarbonization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Saudi Arabian environmental regulations and sustainability requirements, including Mostadam.
  • Experience within site supervision consultancy or project management consultancy environments is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and reporting capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in Saudi Arabia or the GCC region is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and sustainability performance management tools.
  • Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
