Overview
The Product Analyst plays a key role in supporting the successful delivery, continuous improvement and adoption of finance systems products by translating business needs into clear, prioritised and actionable requirements. Working closely with Product Leads, Product Owners, business stakeholders, technical teams and support functions, the role helps shape product backlogs, assess enhancement opportunities, analyse process and system impacts, and ensure changes are aligned to business priorities, control requirements and the strategic product roadmap. The Product Analyst provides insight, structure and coordination across the product lifecycle, helping to improve user experience, operational effectiveness, data quality and system performance while supporting robust governance, testing, release readiness and stakeholder engagement.
Your role
- Partner with Product Leads, Product Owners and business stakeholders to elicit, assess, document and validate business requirements, ensuring requirements are clear, complete, prioritised and aligned to product objectives, control requirements and the wider Finance Systems roadmap.
- Facilitate workshops, process reviews and discovery sessions with finance users, operational teams, technology teams and third-party partners to understand pain points, define business outcomes, map current and future state processes, and identify opportunities for simplification, automation and standardisation.
- Translate business needs into well-structured user stories, acceptance criteria, functional specifications, process maps and supporting documentation that enable Engineering, Configuration, Data, Integration and Testing teams to design, build and validate effective solutions.
- Support the Product Lead in the management of product backlog items, enhancement requests and demand pipeline activities by assessing business value, urgency, risk, dependencies, effort and impact, and by helping Product Leads maintain a transparent and prioritised view of work.
- Conduct impact assessments across finance processes, controls, data, integrations, reporting, security and user experience to ensure proposed changes are understood, appropriately governed and delivered without compromising operational stability or compliance obligations.
- Adhere to ITS Finance Systems Governance requirements, ensuring all analysis, change, testing, release, support and continuous improvement activities are delivered in line with the defined ITIL processes, governance controls, approval routes and operational standards.
- Ensure compliance with IT General Controls (ITGC) by supporting effective control operation, maintaining appropriate evidence, identifying control impacts from proposed changes, and escalating risks or exceptions in line with Finance Systems governance and audit requirements.
- Support testing activities by preparing test scenarios, reviewing test scripts, coordinating user acceptance testing, triaging defects, validating fixes and ensuring appropriate evidence is captured to support release readiness and governance approvals.
- Contribute to release and deployment activities by supporting cutover planning, business readiness assessments, communications, training materials, stakeholder engagement and post-deployment validation to drive successful adoption and minimise disruption.
- Investigate incidents, service issues and recurring problems by analysing symptoms, data, process impacts and system behaviour, working with support and technical teams to identify root causes, define corrective actions and reduce repeat failures.
- Monitor product performance, user feedback, support trends and operational metrics to identify continuous improvement opportunities that enhance user experience, data quality, process efficiency, compliance and service resilience.
- Continuously grow product, process and technology knowledge across the Finance Systems ecosystem, using insights from users, vendors, industry practices and emerging capabilities to drive innovation, improve product outcomes and identify opportunities for simplification, automation and enhanced business value.
- Maintain high-quality product documentation, including functional specifications, decision records, process maps, knowledge articles, release notes and user guidance, ensuring information remains accurate, accessible and aligned to governance standards.
