Responsibilities

  • Visual design direction and defines design elements of the project that affect the guest experience
  • In collaboration with the development team, act as design “vision-keeper” for the project
  • Interacts with project management, subconsultants, facility team, internal teams and other disciplines with professionalism. Must establish clear lines of open communication and represent the creative intent for the “show”, and any guest touch points
  • Experience managing large amounts of information and assessing critical vs non-critical items and actions
  • Creates and presents project materials to internal and external audiences, in communicating project concept, content, and status
  • Participate in early concept development, design development, through to IFC, costing, schedules and technical reviews, drawings reviews, and client meetings
  • Develop creative design, colour boards, sketching, drafting, and models and other creative output that outline solutions to integrate elements into a themed environment
  • Provides concept design for the experience and guest flow with staff models, sets, show, and scenic elements through various visual tools that includes the use of art, illustration, architecture, drawings, paint, sketches, storyboards, 2D and 3D digital design and multimedia mediums
  • Conceptualize and develop creative show concepts that align with the overall theme and narrative of the project, ensuring a cohesive and engaging guest experience.
  • Lead the design and development of show elements, including scriptwriting, storyboarding, set design, lighting, sound, special effects, and multimedia integration to create immersive and captivating show experiences.
  • Work closely with technical teams to ensure that show designs are technically feasible, meet safety requirements, and deliver optimal guest experiences through the effective integration of technology and special effects.
  • Develop, organize, high-quality (Creative, Show, Scenic, AV, SPFX, Props, Lighting, Façade, ID,) design packages that articulate the project’s creative design intent, demonstrates creative, artistic, and illustration abilities, and integrates details the various show elements of an attraction (such as scenery, special effects, show action equipment, animated figures, props, animated props, audio equipment, and lighting equipment)
  • Responsible for ensuring that the quality of the Creative Design developed by AtkinsRéalis is maintained

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or Design, Fine Arts, Theatre Design, Entertainment Design, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in show design for themed entertainment projects, with a robust portfolio showcasing diverse projects and creative expertise.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Rhino, or other relevant tools for concept development, visualization, and presentation.
  • Strong storytelling skills, with the ability to create compelling narratives, character development, and immersive environments that resonate with audiences.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate creative concepts, engage stakeholders, and navigate complex design challenges effectively.
