Role Summary

SNC-Lavalin have an exciting new opportunity to appoint a Technical Director focused on our Environmental service line. The role of Technical Director within SNC-Lavalin is a strategic role that is all about having a deep understanding of the relevant markets – where they are now and likely future direction – in order to maximise the value that SNC-Lavalin can bring to our clients across markets.

As Technical Director you will work collaboratively with our technical teams to drive thought leadership across SNC-Lavalin and the industry - enabling technical best practice, knowledge sharing and process optimisation across the group. It is a role that brings together deep technical expertise with the relationship building skills required to develop relationships externally and internally. Our Technical Directors see success as ensuring SNC-Lavalin remains at the forefront of developments within their service line – creating opportunities for strategic growth, technical excellence and ensuring that SNC-Lavalin maximises the value that we can offer to our clients.
 

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner providing technical review and certification of environmental impact assessments, due diligence assessment and scoping reports

  • Client and project capture for the team through maintaining network of high-level contacts in the infrastructure and development sector

  • Supporting and developing Environmental Services team to deliver environmental impact assessment and planning approvals, post approval construction environmental management plans and site implementation, environmental auditing, due diligence assessments, and GIS capabilities.

  • Responsible for business proposal/tendering and commercial negotiations

  • Develop technical expertise with a focus on creating the depth of capability to deliver value to our clients now and in the future.

  • Be an ambassador for SNC-Lavalin at market relevant events; leveraging opportunities to build awareness of SNC-Lavalin’s capability.

  • Support the development of client value propositions which shift our services into high-value consulting and advisory areas, and recruit and develop the right capability within the practice to deliver those services, developing relationships and working with external alliance partners and subcontractors as necessary.
     

Desired Skills, Experience and Capabilities

  • A degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability

  • Experienced Technical Practitioner - Environmental impact assessment, having led scoping reports and the drafting, preparation and signing off of EIS in NSW, which will include detailed knowledge of State and Federal environmental legislation

  • Ability to build, lead and grow multi-disciplinary teams

  • Experienced in the preparation of complex proposals/bids

  • Network of professional connections and contacts in infrastructure planning and implementation
