Senior Civil Land Development Engineer

Overview

We are hiring! AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Civil Land Development Engineer to join our team in Austin or Houston, Texas.

Your role

Our civil engineers do it all – grading, site plans, roads, utilities, stormwater. They also work on local, state and federal projects that include small, medium and large planning, design-bid-build, and design-build projects. Our civil engineers work on, and travel to, federal projects throughout the US, as well as Europe and the Middle East. They also work with other civil engineering groups in numerous offices across the US. Come join AtkinsRéalis, where opportunities abound.

Our Austin office works on a variety of exciting projects for Federal agencies such as the Department of Defense, the US Army Corps of Engineers, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency; State agencies such as Texas Parks & Wildlife Department and Texas Department of Transportation; local municipalities including Travis County, Williamson County, and the City of Austin; local school districts such as the Leander Independent School District; local and national land developers; and many more clients too numerous to list.

  • Performs project design, sketching design concepts to be developed by junior engineers, CAD designers or technicians.

  • Plans and reviews the production of engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Plans and reviews the production of engineering investigations or planning work.

  • Develops and evaluates plans and criteria for new projects, weighing alternatives and selecting the most cost-effective solution.

  • Analyzes technical problems, assessing the feasibility of proposed techniques and procedures, and devising new approaches and alternative solutions.

  • Analyzes project scopes and prepares or oversees the preparation of cost and manpower estimates, schedules and job budgets.

  • Coordinates work with project manager and guides junior professionals and technical personnel on the design and drafting of preliminary and final plans.

  • Is responsible for quality control, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, and checking computations or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.

  • May occasionally manage projects.

  • Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

About you

  • Ability to lead and prepare civil engineering projects consisting of construction plans, specifications, and/or design calculations.

  • Experience with roadways, sanitary sewers, water distribution systems, storm drain facilities, site grading, stormwater management, earthwork, erosion & sediment control, environmental compliance, ADA compliance, and/or pavement markings & signage.

  • Conduct periodic site visits, responses to RFI's, shop drawing review, and more.

  • Ability and willingness to work on private, municipal, state and federal projects.

  • Proven technical writing and communication skills.

  • Local experience working in the Denver Front Range area.

  • AutoCAD and Civil 3D knowledge and understanding required.

  • ProjectWise, Bluebeam, SharePoint, and MS Project knowledge and understanding a plus.

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred.

  • Four to Ten years of experience.

  • Texas P.E. license is required (or ability to obtain within 6 months).

Additional information

Expected compensation range is between $79,000 - $118,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
