Our highly respected and successful Environmental Permitting and Management team has an ever-growing portfolio of work, built on technical excellence and exceptional service to our clients, with a particular need for support on our infrastructure, power, and renewables projects. As a result, we are seeking a like-minded and experienced Aquatic Biologist to join our growing Environmental Permitting & Management (EP&M) Team.  This is an intermediate level role and can be based out of our Vancouver or Burnaby offices within the Lower Mainland, or our Victoria or Nanaimo offices on Vancouver Island.  Other office locations across BC could be considered as well.

Our work includes delivering keystone projects throughout their lifecycle: from early assessment of constraints to strategic development of regulatory approvals processes, to compliance management through construction and operations. Our team works collaboratively within projects to gain social acceptance and manage our clients' commitments to the environment and sustainable development.

At AtkinsRéalis, we offer a dynamic and flexible work environment with a strong emphasis on integrity, health and safety, collaboration, and excellence, with competitive compensation and benefits. You will be a key member of the team providing expertise across a wide and diverse range of projects, reinforcing our reputation for technical excellence, and working collaboratively to deliver innovative work primarily across our infrastructure, power, and renewables client portfolios, but also within our infrastructure, ports, and mining sectors. As part of the wider Environment division, you’ll be at the heart of the business with the opportunity to work alongside a variety of environmental and engineering professionals across Canada and our global regions.

 Your role within the team:

  • Support and/or coordinate the development and delivery of technical studies for marine and/or freshwater fish and aquatic biology in support of environmental impact assessments (EIA), habitat assessments, environmental management plans (EMP), and other work programs in marine and freshwater environments.
  • Lead, support, or coordinate field programs throughout British Columbia and Canada including freshwater and marine fish habitat assessments, intertidal and subtidal surveys, wildlife surveys, vegetation/riparian surveys, and sediment/water quality sampling.
  • Lead, support, or coordinate onsite environmental monitoring during construction by assessing contractor compliance with environment permits, regulatory requirements, legislation, best management practices, and environmental management/protection plans.
  • Provide technical advice to clients and colleagues on legislation, regulation, and policy related to fish or aquatic environments.
  • Lead, support, or coordinate regulatory submissions and environmental permit applications for a wide variety of projects in British Columbia and across Canada.
  • Lead, support, or coordinate the development of environmental scopes of work, budgets, and proposals for a wide variety of projects in British Columbia and across Canada.
  • Support and/or coordinate client and stakeholder engagement with government agencies, Indigenous communities, and interest groups through presentations, workshops, and written materials.
