AtkinsRéalis is growing rapidly in Australia with new project wins offering exciting opportunities to learn and develop. Our regional business servicing the Australia & New Zealand markets is divided into three sectors: Consulting & Advisory, Program & Project management and Design & Engineering. We're looking to grow our teams in each area.

We have plans to expand our existing team of 120 talented individuals across the East Coast of Australia and are in search for experienced, agile engineers to join us in this exciting growth phase.

Role Summary

AtkinsRéalis’ Engineering Design business provides multidisciplinary engineering services and integrated solutions across a wide range of projects and markets.

We are in search of a Principal Structural Engineer based in either our Sydney or Brisbane offices, to support our portfolio of growing projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to take a leading role, providing input to some challenging projects within the infrastructure and renewable energy sectors.

Candidates should have the right flare and ability that will help us develop and expand our structural engineering capability by building on the existing portfolio of our expanding, flexible and outward looking team that can tackle work across a broad spectrum of sectors.

 Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as a key structural resource ensuring the provision of efficient, high quality structural engineering design
  • Manage the design of Structural Engineering works across a range of projects, including RC, Steel, and external structures such as retaining walls.
  • Inspire and support the technical development of staff within the structural practice
  • Leading, managing and co-ordinating multi-disciplinary project teams to complete projects to meet client aspirations
  • Management of project programmes, budgets and overall quality
  • Contribute and lead the development of complex project proposals/cost estimates and participate in the process of securing new business opportunities or expanding the scope of existing projects.
  • Help build and maintain client relationships

Desired Skills, Experience and Capabilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and ideally have Chartership (CPEng)
  • Extensive post graduate experience in major structural engineering building projects and strong numerical/analytical capabilities.
  • Experience in the design of common structural materials as well as a good understating of current design standards and working practices.
  • Able to generate innovative outcomes to challenges and follow them through.
  • Project Management - Experience and understanding of the needs and approaches to the engineering consultancy and design markets, including relationships with clients, work planning and commercial management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical skills and the ability to develop and lead structural design teams.
  • Strong collaborative and network behaviours to interface with other disciplines and businesses
  • Good commercial track record in negotiating and running successful jobs.
