Project Logistics Lead

Reporting to the Cernavoda 1 Project Logistics Manager, the Project Logistics Lead assists the Project Logistics Manager, in the management, planning, obligations and responsibilities relative to the procedures, processes, internal and external interactions and execution of all the required logistics, shipping and customs activities needed for the safe and timely transportation of project goods (equipment, reactor components, retube tooling, etc) to the project site.

Location – Mississauga, ON

Your role within the team:

  • Primary Contract Administrator for all freight forwarding customs brokerage and general transportation services engagements for the project.
  • In co-operation with the Project stakeholders, coordinates the logistics program responsible for the movement of all equipment, reactor components, retube tooling, etc) from suppliers’ locations to the project site in compliance with all applicable regulations (IAEA, IATA, ICAO)
  • Compliance and Implementation of the project logistics strategy in accordance with project execution plans and policies.
  • Responsible for Project Logistics program planning, scheduling, and execution.
  • Responsible for identifying optimization opportunities in the logistics programs.
  • Maintains accurate record keeping associated with all projects related transportation activities, including each shipment shipping documents (bills of lading, customs documentation, and delivery confirmations) and logistics services providers billing & invoice backups, and shipment tracking and status reports.
  • Practices daily coordination with Candu Purchasing, Order Administrators, Quality Assurance and Site Logistics organization personnel.
  • Responsible for all logistics reporting and KPI’s management including sub-contractor (forwarder and other service provider) oversight and reporting.
  • Reviews and approves all sub-contractor invoices for accuracy ensuring timely payment. Escalates as required.
  • With support from Risk Management team, maintains active risk registry for all project cargo.
  • Champions compliance and safety protocols and regulations throughout the implementation of all project logistics processes.

The ideal candidate:

  • Post-Secondary education with certification in Supply Chain Management , Transportation or  Logistics preferred or
  • Degree in Logistics or Materials Management from a recognized university or technical institute or equivalent combination of education and experience which equates to at least 5  years of experience in project logistics/ transportation / traffic coordination roles.
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge working with small and large industrial projects logistics, shipping and transportation activities and requirements including thorough understanding of Canadian and international shipping regulations and customs procedures and processes.
  • Must possess character, integrity, and the ability to deal effectively with cross functional stakeholders.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  to liaise with various project stakeholders including supplier, logistics services providers, project management team , and  Candu and customer project team members.
  • Ability to anticipate and resolve project  logistical issues and risk  that may impact project timelines.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
