Join us as a Senior Criticality Safety Engineer in our Nuclear & Power Division, and play a vital role designing complex new schemes to protect our clients' assets. There's no such thing as a one-size-fits-all career plan in AtkinsRealis. And with a huge variety of projects to work on, you'll have plenty of opportunities to grow and challenge yourself as a consultant.

Your purpose:

Working within the Nuclear and Power business, you will be supporting delivery on a number of client projects, either on behalf of AtkinsRealis or even based within the client’s organisation. The role will be versatile and encompass all stages of project delivery, from initial set up, to delivery of the finished project and our clients span the New Build, Generation, Defence, Decommissioning and Disposal areas of the industry.

Within the Nuclear and Power business our clients work in highly regulated nuclear environments and you will be directing your multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex and unique projects.

Main aspects of the role will include enhancing radiation protection and safety processes and procedures, assisting in the production of bids and proposals, and implementing and contributing to our safety culture, an environment we value so greatly.

What you can bring?

  • Science or engineering expertise (physics, chemistry, mechanical, chemical or process engineering, Degree qualified or equivalent).
  • Understanding and experience of utilising industry recognised radiation transport codes such as; MCNP, MONK, SCALE, for k-effective calculations.
  • Successful delivery of criticality assessments including development of key associated documentation such as Hazard Analysis (HAZANS), Criticality Advice Notes (CANs) and Criticality Clearance Certificates (CCCs).
  • Experience working as a criticality safety engineer within multi-disciplined project teams.
  • Teamwork and Leadership qualities.
  • An appreciation of what’s required for design, when working in safety critical industries, like Nuclear.
  • An appreciation of project and client management.
  • An understanding of the fundamental factors which contribute to business success.
