Assistant Analyst - Transport Asset Management

A vacancy exists for a Junior Analyst to provide support to the Transport Asset Management Practice on a wide variety of projects.  This position will ideally be based at our Birmingham office in the UK. The Practice provides services on the management and maintenance of existing assets in public and private ownership.  The Practice’s target markets are national road and rail administrations, local authorities, central government and DBFO/PFI organisations in the UK and overseas.  The successful applicant will be required to work on a variety of projects within the Group.
 
Responsibilities
  • Use and enhance existing toolsets to prepare, load and validate data;
  • Analyse database outputs and present findings to customers;
  • Identify requirements alongside colleagues and customers;
  • Deliver allocated project tasks, to quality, time and budget requirements, as directed by project managers and/or team leaders; and
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients
 


Requirements
 
Degree or equivalent, ideally in a numerate subject such as Computer Science or Mathematics preferred.  

Essential Requirements
  • Ability to process, analyse and interpret data
  • Ability to use Excel
  • Ability to deliver presentations to clients
  • Ability to interpret outputs of analysis
  • Ability to make recommendations on findings of analyses
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to be flexible and take on a wide range of duties
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience using VBA coding.
  • Experience using Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) software, especially FME.
  • Experience in database programming (SQL Server).
  • Experience in Business Intelligence application development with Microsoft .NET technologies, SQL Server Analysis Services and Reporting Services
  • Knowledge of the highways or rail sector
