Associate Structural Engineer

The Infrastructure Building Structures team in the Epsom office currently comprises around 75 staff working on a mixture of heavy civils projects and building projects. The team is led by Practice Manager with one other Associate Director and six Associates. The team takes on up to five new Graduates every year and is committed to training and mentoring junior engineers. The team works on a wide variety of national and international projects in the UK, currently predominantly in the Nuclear, Defence and Airport sectors. Going forward there is a desire to extend to other sectors and the successful candidate will be key in driving this forward.

Role
We are looking for an Associate to join our Building Structures team in Atkins’ Epsom Office as part of the Infrastructure business.


The successful candidate will have solid experience in the design and assessment of building and civil structures in the UK and be Chartered with either the ICE or IStructE.

The role may involve periods of time spent working away from Epsom and as such the candidate must be willing to travel as projects require.

We are looking for highly technical and commercially aware candidates with wide experience in leading projects and managing teams. The successful candidate will play a key role in the growth and development of the Building Structures team in Epsom.

Requirements
In addition to the role requirements detailed above the following is required;
•   Extensive experience working as a structural engineer in the UK buildings sector;
•   Chartered Engineer status (ICE or IStructE);
•   Leadership/Management experience.
•   Experience as multi-disciplinary design lead.
•   Experience in the design of building structures using the conventional engineering materials (steel concrete, timber, masonry) to both British Standards and Eurocodes

     and Sound experience in conceptual design.
