AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented BMS Design Manager to lead the design, development, and implementation of Building Management Systems (BMS) for a large-scale infrastructure project.

The successful candidate will:

  • Oversee all aspects of BMS design.
  • Ensure integration with other building systems (HVAC, lighting, security, energy management).
  • Optimize system performance to meet project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver a high-performing, efficient, and future-ready BMS solution.

Core Responsibilities:

BMS System Design and Integration:

  • Lead the design and specification of BMS systems, ensuring seamless integration with components such as HVAC, lighting, energy management, and security.
  • Develop detailed BMS design documentation, including system architecture, layouts, equipment specifications, and control strategies.
  • Collaborate with architectural and engineering teams to align BMS design with overall project objectives and other building systems.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

  • Work with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure the BMS design aligns with timelines, budgets, and functional requirements.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers to select appropriate BMS hardware, software, and components.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for BMS design-related issues, ensuring effective communication between all parties.

System Optimization and Efficiency:

  • Optimize BMS design for energy efficiency, sustainability, and operational cost savings.
  • Integrate advanced BMS technologies, such as IoT, predictive analytics, and smart building solutions, to enhance system performance.
  • Analyze performance data to ensure real-time monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of building systems.

Regulatory Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Incorporate health and safety considerations into the design, addressing operational safety for occupants and maintenance personnel.
  • Secure necessary approvals and certifications for BMS systems during design and implementation phases.

Quality Assurance and Control:

  • Conduct thorough design reviews to ensure technical soundness and adherence to quality standards.
  • Oversee the development of testing and commissioning procedures to ensure system functionality before handover.
  • Manage the resolution of design-related issues to meet performance, reliability, and quality expectations.

Budget and Schedule Management:

  • Develop and manage the BMS design budget, ensuring alignment with financial constraints.
  • Monitor and track the design schedule to meet milestones and deliver on time.
  • Provide regular progress updates to senior management, highlighting potential risks or delays.

Training and Documentation:

  • Develop training materials and train building operators and facility management teams on BMS operations and maintenance.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system manuals, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay informed about the latest trends, technologies, and advancements in BMS, integrating innovative solutions.
  • Lead initiatives to improve system performance, energy efficiency, and user experience.

Core Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in designing and implementing BMS for large-scale infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of BMS software, hardware, and systems integration (e.g., Honeywell, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric).
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ASHRAE, ISO, LEED).
  • Experience with energy management systems and sustainable building practices is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills to optimize BMS performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with design and project management software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project).
