Join us in engineering a better future for our planet and its people.

AtkinsRéalis is a world-leading design, engineering, and project management organization. We
connect people, data, and technology to transform the world's infrastructure and energy systems. Together, with our industry partners and clients, and our global team of consultants, designers, engineers, and project managers, we can change the world.

We have a strong presence in the Middle East that enables us to build deep and lasting relationships with our clients. We share their goals and long-term ambitions; we’re on the same journey to create places and infrastructure which will support long term sustainable development, healthy living and vibrant communities.

The Director of City Design Coordination will be a key leader within NEOM The LINE’s City Design Coordination team, responsible for overseeing the seamless integration of all city design activities. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of City Design Integration, this role ensures that all design elements—from architecture and public spaces to infrastructure and technical floors—come together to create a fully functional, visually cohesive city that embodies NEOM’s visionary standards.

As the Director of City Design Coordination, you will play a central role in ensuring that NEOM The LINE’s vision for a futuristic, sustainable city comes to life. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of city design and help build one of the most innovative urban projects in the world. If you’re driven by the challenge of coordinating large-scale, complex projects and have a passion for exceptional design, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the coordination of design efforts across the various teams working on NEOM The LINE, including Urban Realm, Neighbourhood design, Infrastructure Engineering, and consultants designing critical city assets such as the basement and technical floors.
  • Oversee the integration of design processes, ensuring that all design components—public realm, technical spaces, and critical infrastructure—are aligned with the project's overarching vision and quality standards.
  • Act as the central point for coordinating communication between different design teams and consultants, ensuring smooth collaboration and resolving any design-related conflicts.
  • Ensure design coherence and alignment with NEOM’s vision for sustainability, innovation, and high-quality urban living.
  • Manage design timelines, deliverables, and quality control to ensure that the project stays on track, while maintaining NEOM’s high standards of excellence.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director of City Design Integration to provide input on strategy, design direction, and integration planning across various phases of development.
  • Support the design management of critical city assets, collaborating with the Design Management team for City Assets to ensure that key infrastructure is integrated into the broader urban design framework.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, internal teams, and external consultants to drive design integration strategies and address complex design challenges.
  • Mentor and guide team members within City Design Coordination, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and results-driven environment.

What we’re looking for

  • Extensive experience (25+ years) in architecture, urban planning, or a related field, with a strong track record of leading design coordination efforts on large-scale, complex urban development projects.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines and teams.
  • Strong understanding of urban design, infrastructure integration, and public realm design, with a passion for creating cohesive and functional city environments.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience managing design teams and complex project timelines.
  • Ability to translate visionary goals into practical design solutions, ensuring all elements work together both functionally and aesthetically.
  • Familiarity with sustainable urban design practices, innovative technology integration, and the latest trends in city development.
  • A collaborative mindset, capable of fostering strong relationships and ensuring smooth coordination between internal and external stakeholders.
