Environmental Planning - Town Planner

Responsibilities 

  • Preparation of planning applications and relevant supporting documents for a range of development proposals, including planning applications, Transport and Works Act Orders and Development Consent Order applications
  • Monitor and analyse the status of key policy documents.
  • Prepare planning appraisals for sites.
  • Collect and analyse information from a range of data sources and present findings in clear well-written reports.
  • Input into EIAs.
  • Support on bid preparation and business development as required.
  • Competently undertake own work to an excellent standard, on time and to budget.
  • Able to manage clients’ needs in a confident, professional manner.
  • Maintain knowledge of changes to planning processes and laws.

Requirements 

  • Bachelors or Postgraduate degree in Urban Planning or relevant subject.
  • Relevant post qualification experience (5-9 years) in a planning role
  • Knowledge of town and country planning processes and legislation.
  • Broad understanding of the consenting process for infrastructure.
  • Able to conduct accurate and timely research and subsequent data analysis.
  • Strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Able to prioritise and work effectively under pressure.
  • Have good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate issues and ideas effectively.
  • Be flexible, adaptable and prepared to take on new challenges and work from other Atkins or client office locations.
  • Be highly self-motivated, possessing strong enthusiasm and commitment to delivering sustainable outcomes.
