Position Summary

The GIS team are responsible for the GIS data and systems that are used by the various end users and teams across the project. Two important functions of the GIS team are defining the data structures and standards of GIS data received from third party organisations and providing end user tools and interfaces to GIS data received and used by the project. The GIS Content Manager will develop and maintain the GIS data model, data specifications and templates for the project. They will also create and maintain end user mapping interfaces and tools within the enterprise GIS platform. They will also input into the development of GIS Information Management procedures, data specifications and standards for the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • GIS data modelling, data structure and database schema design and development
  • GIS data analysis and processing
  • Engagement and liaison with end users and stakeholders
  • Creation of web-maps, web GIS applications and dashboards
  • Publishing feature services and maps in ArcGIS Enterprise

Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in Geography, Planning, Engineering, Computer Science, or related curriculum (or equivalent)
  • 10+ years of related experience

Required Skills and Experience

  • Advanced skills and experience using Esri ArcGIS Enterprise Portal and ArcGIS Online
  • Advanced Esri ArcGIS Pro user
  • Demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication skills and a working knowledge of industry practices
  • Proficiency in cartography and map design, including coordinate systems, projections, and map scales
  • Experience managing and editing large GIS datasets, creating standardized GIS data layers
  • Geospatial data development and standardization (geometry editing, attribution, metadata)

Desired Experience

In addition, the following skills and competencies are desired:

  • Knowledge and use of GIS automation tools, python scripts, geoprocessing tools for data processing and task automation
  • Good understanding and experience of design and development processes, including requirements definition, solution design and specification
  • Database (RDBMS) development and administration skills, specifically Microsoft SQL Server
  • Knowledge of web GIS technologies and architectures
  • Experience with Esri GeoBIM, Esri Indoors, Safe Software FME, AutoDesk Products, Digital Twin software
  • Systems and peripheral troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to independently assess data anomalies, software problems, and program design flaws, and take appropriate steps to make the project work
  • Ability to ascertain hardware/software limitations, how to work within them, and what can be done when limits are reached
  • Ability to communicate results of assigned tasks in writing
  • Ability to document work performed on a project in project logs
  • Ability to document specific information about project data in the metadata file
  • Proficiency in basic office automation software including MS-Word or MS-Excel
