SNC-Lavalin is growing rapidly in Australia with new project wins offering exciting opportunities to learn and develop. Our regional business servicing the Australia & New Zealand markets is divided into three sectors: Consulting & Advisory, Program & Project management and Design & Engineering. We're looking to grow our teams in each area.

We have plans to expand our existing team of 120 talented individuals and are in search for experienced and agile engineers to join us in this exciting growth phase.

Role Summary

We are looking to find a Geotechnical Engineer, based at of our Sydney office to support our current portfolio of projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to collaborate on a global scale, working on some challenging projects within the infrastructure and renewable energy sectors and be a part of a fast-growing engineering team.

We are looking for someone with the right flare and ability that will help us develop and expand our geotechnical capability by building on the existing portfolio of our expanding, flexible and outward looking team that can tackle work across a broad spectrum of sectors.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide high quality geotechnical design input into a diverse range of infrastructure projects
• Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams in Australia and internationally to deliver integrated design solutions
• Analyse and prepare reports for projects relating to foundation design, slope stabilisation measures, excavation retention system, structural foundations, dams, and other geotechnical related projects.
• A strong understanding in materials testing and scoping objectives to support geotechnical investigation and design recommendations.
• Provide effective geotechnical solutions by interpreting the available data, carry out analysis, applying engineering principles and drawing valid conclusions
• Contribute to winning work by assisting with proposals and bid submissions

Desired Skills, Experience and Capabilities

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or an equivalent
• Demonstrated geotechnical design experience in numerical/analytical modelling
• Assist in geotechnical design using various 2D/3D modelling geotechnical software packages (eg. PLAXIS, Slope/W, Wallap and the Rocscience suite)
• Fieldwork experience in various geological conditions (site investigations and/or construction phase services)
• Excellent verbal communication and report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work
• Understanding of the needs and approaches to the engineering consultancy and design markets, including relationships with clients, work planning and commercial management
