The Engineering Services Department is currently looking for a Fire and Life Safety Systems Integrated System Testing Coordinator for its National Capital Region office in Ottawa, Ontario to support CAN/ULC-S1001 related services. This role is created for an individual to lead this type of service for our fire protection team. Our team of experts understands that Fire Protection Engineering is a multi-disciplinary field. As such, we are looking to build a team of specialists of various focuses within the multi-faceted fire protection industry which includes integrated systems testing. We are looking for innovative, forward-thinking people who enjoy challenge and actively seek to develop and improve work processes.

Your role within the team

  • Integrated Fire and Life Safety Systems Testing services.
  • Develop test plans and testing reports.
  • Develop and support offers specifically for life safety integrated system testing.
  • Report writing, project management.
  • Ensuring all completed work conforms to contract requirements.
  • Conducting site visits and inspections and observe tests.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and trades in planning and executing project tasks.

The ideal candidate

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, College Diploma in Architectural Technology or Engineering Technology or Technician. UL Solutions S1001 certificate or Professional Engineer (P.Eng) License.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in fire protection. Experience with CAN/ULC-S1001 testing an asset. Participation within fire protection industry associations an asset.
  • Ability to cross over multi-disciplinary projects. Good understanding of fire protection engineering concepts and methods, understanding of Building Codes and Standards. Collaborative approach and good communication & organizational skills.
  • Submit for and maintain a federal security clearance. Valid driving permit.
  • Bilingualism French and English (written and spoken) an asset.
