Intermediate Geospatial Specialist

With the above vision in mind, AtkinsRéalis is looking for a career-oriented Intermediate Environmental Geospatial Specialist based in Toronto. However we would be open to a candidate that is located near any of our offices in Canada or willing to re-locate to Toronto.
Your role within the team:
- Create, manage, and manipulate spatial and non-spatial data and associated metadata via ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise
- Apply standard techniques and procedures in carrying out a sequence of diversified GIS tasks requiring the use of analysis, interpretation, and deductive reasoning.
- Ability to detect problems in using standardization procedures due to changes in client needs or project direction.
- Prepare maps and exhibits with GIS data sets; either static map figures or interactive webmaps/web applications
- Prepare data documentation or metadata for GIS projects.
- Maintain project files related to GIS projects.
- Work with all forms of data sources (e.g., Lidar, AutoCAD files, CSV, etc.)
- Create 3D models (e.g., hydrogeological models)
- Create electromagnetic mapping figures and conducting analysis.
- Conduct various analysis (e.g., buffer, lidar, best route etc.)
- Participate in Client needs analyses.
- Maintain knowledge of technology developments in the Geospatial field and use of GIS software.
- Exercise independent judgment in planning, scheduling, and organizing work assignments.
- Maintain good working relationship with office management and staff across all offices.
- Work across different time zones

- The accountabilities and responsibilities of a Geospatial Specialist include, but are not limited to, the creation, management, and manipulation of both spatial and non-spatial data and associated metadata, as well as the production of tabular and cartographic figures and data visualizations. It may also include web-mapping application support, spatial and/or statistical analysis, 3D spatial analysis, LiDAR classification, potentiometric contour and/or electromagnetic analysis. The Geospatial Specialist can also support digital field-to-office workflows. The role involves collaborating with project managers on various small, medium and/or large projects, and may involve liaison with external clients, to meet project specific objectives.
- Completed post-secondary education in a related field (Certificate, Diploma, Degree, etc.) – B.S. or B.A. or M.S. in Geography, Computer Science or GIS related Environmental Discipline
- Use of Esri ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap are required.
- Use of Esri ArcGIS Enterprise required.
- Use of at least one Esri ArcGIS field worker app is required: ArcGIS Collector, ArcGIS Field Maps, ArcGIS Survey 123,
- Use of Esri AGOL is required.
- Self-starter with the competence to take initiative and go beyond what the job situation requires.
- Ability to conduct geospatial analysis.
- Willingness to learn new skills and serve as support in a number of capacities.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to change priorities to meet group needs.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Having one or more of the following would be considered an asset:
- Legacy ArcGIS Map products
- Knowledge of QGIS is considered an asset.
- Experience performing field data collection.
- Utility mapping experience
- ArcGIS topology experience
- Experience with working with a variety of data sources (e.g. Lidar, AutoCAD files, CSV, etc.)
- Experience with watershed analysis
- Knowledge of sciences and/or environmental industry
- Experience with creating 3D models in Scene.
- Esri Storymaps
- Understanding fundamentals cartography principles
- Proficient with Microsoft Office with proven advanced skills in utilizing Access and Excel
- Experience with FME
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator
- Experience with Electromagnetic data
- Experience with Leapfrog
- Programming languages (e.g. Python, VBA, SQL)
- Microsoft Access
- Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.

Compensation Range:
Expected compensation for this role is between $60,000 - $92,000 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, location, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
