Multi-disciplinary Design Manager

 
The transport infrastructure market in Australasia is experiencing a prolonged period of unprecedented sustained government investment. This is primarily spearheaded by rail project investments along the eastern seaboard of Australia.
  
To support our business growth in Australasia, we are seeking Design Managers with a background in engineering consultancy, contractor led design, or client management of engineering and construction projects. This individual will manage the delivery of multi-disciplinary design packages across a number of projects varying in size and complexity within the transportation infrastructure market sector
You will be involved in the bid process and be responsible for delivering schemes and work packages to budget and programme. You will also be the main point of contact with our clients for these projects which will primarily be rail or aviation focused.

Experience and Skills
  • Experience of managing project work packages and associated resources
  • Demonstrate having taken responsibility for budgets and programme 
  • Good understanding of design procedures, change control, checking and review requirements 
  • Experience of motivating teams to prioritise and deliver tasks to time and budget 
  • Experience of project delivery for the rail industry and electrification projects in particular, would be desirable but not essential. 
Responsibilities
  • Supporting the broader team on sales related meetings and activities
  • Project and work package management 
  • Meeting cost and time targets to deliver high quality consultancy services to clients 
    Work planning; definition of activities and programme 
  • Commercial, risk and financial management and change control on projects 
  • Ensuring compliance with CDM design risk assessments and health, safety and environmental requirements
  • Contributing to the bid preparation and work winning process 
  • Developing and maintaining internal and external client relationships 
  • Providing support and focal point for integration of design teams from various locations particularly from the GDC (Global Design Centre) in India.
  • Ensuring compliance with Business Management, HSE and Quality procedures 
    Maintaining your knowledge of current design and regulatory standards 

The Individual 

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role 
  • Have the ability to work to time and cost budgets 
  • Have excellent communications skills 
  • Possess willingness to work with clients and their project teams 
  • Have good presentation skills 
  • Have good report writing and reviewing skills 
  • Have a reliable and responsible attitude, pay attention to detail and have a flexible approach to achieve the best outcomes 
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify and input to activities in support of the wider business objectives that may draw upon skills in addition to those outlined above 
  • Be keen to develop their career
