Reactor Structure/ Reactivity Control Units Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Routine tasks of mechanical engineering work on calandria assembly and reactivity control units, with specific instructions and details with respect to expected results, such as simple technical plans, technical calculations, preparation of drawings and technical documents
• Assignments are normally performed under close supervision of an engineer in an upper grade, are of low complexity and are frequently designed to develop work knowledge in this field of engineering
• Plan, schedule and manage own time; including taking into account the plans of others
• Work is in accordance with established codes, standards and specifications
• Taking technical decisions involving choice of action within clearly defined guidelines for procedure and practice and with ample precedents to reference
• Occasionally, site work might be required to support installation or troubleshooting related to reactor and reactivity control units components
• Work is limited in scope and generally related to mechanical engineering, although knowledge of related fields of engineering and an appreciation of the impact of the work on other areas is required

Qualifications:

• Education requirements – Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a university of recognized standing
• Licensed by Professional Engineers Ontario or the incumbent is in the process to obtain license
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, MathCad or similar programs in order to perform calculations
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, including taking into account the plans of others.
• Comfortable in fast-pace, high pressure environment
• Good communication skills
• Ability to multi-task multiple projects in an individual or group setting
• Proven problem solving skills
• Proven written and oral communication skills
• Proven aptitude for continuous learning
