SNC-Lavalin in Australia

SNC-Lavalin is growing rapidly in Australia with new project wins offering exciting opportunities to learn and develop. Our regional business servicing the Australia & New Zealand markets is divided into three sectors: Consulting & Advisory, Program & Project management and Design & Engineering. We're looking to grow our teams in each area.

We have plans to expand our existing team of 120 talented individuals and are in search for experienced and agile engineers to join us in this exciting growth phase.

We provide a flexible hybrid working environment that will allow you to succeed whether that be from the office or from home across all of our teams.

Role Summary

SNC-Lavalin’s Engineering Design business provides multidisciplinary engineering services and integrated solutions across a wide range of projects and markets. As part of our growth strategy, we are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our business. You will join a highly skilled and passionate team of professionals in the design of engineering projects that are of national significance.

The size of our team allows you the flexibility to sharpen your skills and be exposed to a wider breadth of experience across renewable energy, infrastructure and water projects. Our international presence means you will be working and connecting with local and international experts in their fields.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Participating in civil engineering investigations and assessments, contributing to the development of complex project proposals/cost estimates
  • Delivering multiple civil design packages to a high standard of quality, program dates and budgets, whilst interfacing across other disciplines
  • Collaborating with client teams to agree on strategies that benefit their project and SNC-Lavalin, and communicating this within the global design teams

Desired Skills, Experience and Capabilities

  • Experience in all aspects of civil design, including bulk and detailed earthworks, road and pavement design, stormwater drainage design and documentation.
  • Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplined team
  • Experience within power/energy, water, heavy infrastructure and/or the hydro industry (highly desirable but not essential)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and ideally working towards becoming chartered
