AtkinsRéalis has an exciting full-time career opportunity for a Senior Offshore Cable Installation Engineer with a minimum of 10 years’ experience. Candidates having relevant project experience with transmission & distribution lines, substations, and power stations are preferred. The role is based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The candidate will work in a fast-paced consulting environment with excellent career growth opportunities.

Responsibilities:

Provision of offshore installation expertise to global projects.  This will include, but not necessarily be limited to, high voltage submarine cables, cable protection systems, subsea rock installation, subsea trenching and dredging, mattresses, diver operations, and landfall approaches and installations. Provision of onshore installation expertise for the laying and protection of HV land cable systems and their accessories, including, terminations, transition jointing, duct banks and trenches. Supporting AtkinsRealis Owner’s Engineer and Project Management teams in the successful delivery of high voltage cable projects globally, both onshore and offshore. Supporting and performing cable, structure installation, and protection design reviews in accordance with contract specifications, and technical query response and coordination. Supporting and performing installation readiness oversight, documentation review, vessel audits, ancillary equipment testing, and installation aid fabrication and delivery oversight. Supporting and witnessing installation testing, vessel and installation spread trials, equipment trials, and other pre-execution tests as necessary. Provision of support to client teams through successful relationships, including technical support to commercial processes, workshops, construction planning, and reviews.  Provision of technical expertise for the resolution of disputes, change processes, and contractor claims. Provision of oversight of various offshore contractors (cable installers and OEMS, EPC contractors, suppliers, etc.) to ensure compliance with contract specifications. Supporting and performing feasibility and concept level studies for future cable projects. Technical writing of scope and specification documents, and cost estimating. Supporting and performing schedule and master document register reviews, and other key project management documentation. Supporting and participating in HIRA, HAZOP, constructability, operability, and pertinent risk reviews as necessary. Acting as owner’s engineer at various owner, supplier, contractor facilities, and onshore and offshore construction sites. Acting with the utmost integrity and adherence to safety and environmental requirements, while providing excellence of representation on behalf of AtkinsRealis, always.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, from a recognized institution.

  • A minimum of 10 years of proven industry experience in the technical delivery and execution oversight/management of major offshore installation projects in oil and gas or offshore high voltage sector

  • Previous working experience in HV cable system projects is considered an asset

  • Previous working experience in the laying of HV Cables or SURF, is considered a requirement.

  • Previous working experience in subsea protection systems including rock installation, trenching and/or dredging, is a asset.

  • Previous working experience in subsea protection systems is considering an asset

  • Previous experience working and overseeing projects on offshore installation vessels is a requirement (HV Cables, SURF, or other similar vessels)

  • Onshore cable installation experience is considered an asset

  • Working knowledge and understanding of high voltage cable systems

  • Strong working experiencing with overseeing major international contractors in construction, testing, installation, fabrication, and manufacturing

  • Strong working knowledge of installation analysis tools and methods

  • Strong knowledge of offshore marine industry best practices, global methods, and codes and standards

  • Understanding of engineering processes and management systems on major projects

  • Fluency in reading/writing English is mandatory

  • Ability to travel regularly to project offices and job sites (approximately 25% of working hours)

  • Team player while possessing excellent leadership skills

  • Structured, methodical, process driven problem-solving ability

  • Strong facilitation skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with a variety of clients,  personnel and other industry participants, both external and internal

  • Highly skilled in effectively managing multiple tasks, under pressure and within time constraints

  • Proven track record of delivery and achieving deadlines in project environment

  • Knowledge of quality principals is considered an asset
