Senior Process Control Engineer

Location – Mississauga, ON.

Your role within the team:

The qualified individual will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Provide design solutions and assessments for new, updated and modified process systems (water, oil hydraulic and pneumatic systems), structures and components.
  • Prepare and /or review design documents for Nuclear Power Plants; e.g., Design Calculation, Design Requirements, Design Specifications, Component Specifications, Assessments, Technical Specifications, General Arrangement Drawings, Bill of Materials, Detailed Design Drawings, System Flowsheets and System Code Classification;
  • Perform thermohydraulic evaluations on complex systems.
  • Prepare and/or review Engineering Quotation Request and Tender Technical Evaluations.
  • Provide engineering support for procurement of the process equipment, and inhouse manufacturing and testing of the products.
  • Prepare and/or review Engineering Design packages.
  • Ensure applicable code, standards and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Ensure adherence to company quality program.
  • Ensure adherence to project delivery requirements and schedule.
  • Support Engineering Management with timely updates on engineering progress.

The ideal candidate:

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
  • Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Fluid Power and Process Control Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or Engineering Science.
  • Knowledge of closed loop control system theory and system performance analysis.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in process control system design/analysis, preferably providing design solutions for CANDU nuclear power plants or BWR/PWR markets.
  • Experience performing heat balance and thermohydraulic evaluations.
  • Experience with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for process system design and layout.
  • Experience in selecting or sizing process piping, equipment and associated instruments for process measurements.
  • Knowledge of applications of fluid power transmission and control, and experience with various control valves, pumps, motors, manifolds, and sensors for measurements and control.
  • Experience with hydraulic & pneumatic circuit schematics for system design and layout.
  • Knowledge of analytical tools used for mechanical, process design and analysis (e.g. ANSYS, Mathcad, Flomaster, NUCIRC, CATHENA, Matlab/Sinmulink tool boxes or similar).
  • Knowledge and experience in process system modeling and simulation for design and performance evaluation is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of/experience with CSA B51 standard, ASME Section III, ASME B31.1 codes.
  • Working knowledge of/experience using nuclear Codes and Standards or regulatory guides, including CSA N285.0 is an asset.
  • Must have excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Site experience in construction, or commissioning of plant mechanical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries is an asset.
  • Experience performing work to nuclear power plants procedures and practices and qualifications for nuclear power plants engineering activities is an asset.
  • Eligible for Security Clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).
