Atkins Nuclear is currently seeking an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our team as a Specialty Mechanical Engineer in Oak Ridge, TN.

JOB SUMMARY

  • Specialty Mechanical Engineers will be required to write procurement specifications and datasheets for mechanical equipment (hoists, conveyors, furnaces, etc.) as well as provide oversight for fabrication drawings.
  • Collect design requirements by walk-downs, interviews with SME’s, etc. Create procurement documents (specifications, datasheets, etc.) for specialty mechanical equipment and support the subsequent procurements. Create design documents (calculations, drawings, etc.) for specialty mechanical equipment and support the subsequent fabrication. Works with integrated design and procurement teams to assist in the review and acceptance of mechanical equipment. Troubleshoot existing specialty mechanical equipment and support maintenance/repair activities. Participate in design reviews to ensure interfaces with specialty mechanical equipment are accurately identified. Reports earned value progress to supervisor as required.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • BA/BS Degree plus 10-14 years of direct experience required, or an MA or MS with 10-13 years of experience
  • 10-14 years’ experience with design/specification of custom mechanical equipment. 
  • A bachelor’s degree in a technical field is required.
