The Transportation business covers all aspects of multidisciplinary design and management, from inception and options appraisal through to detailed design and delivery/construction support. It is our centre of excellence for the design of highway and rail infrastructure projects. We aim to be the first-choice designer for local and national highway authorities, contractors and developers.
We are working on many high-profile projects and frameworks nationwide, including Cambridge to Huntingdon A14 upgrade, Smart Motorways and Roads Investment Programmes through the Collaborative Delivery Framework for Highways England, HS2, East West Rail and the West Midlands Shared Professional Services with a number of local authorities.

To meet our growth ambitions, we are seeking a candidate in our Birmingham office able to demonstrate delivery of engineering drawings using AutoCAD and MicroStation for civil and multidisciplinary railway and highway structures design projects. You will have a background in structural detailing and of working within the UK rail or highway sector together with a track record of successful delivery on railway and highway engineering design projects.

Responsibilities:
Technical

• Production of structures drawings (2D and 3D) using AutoCAD and MicroStation
• Assisting with site surveys and other site activities.
• Supporting engineers with the development of design solutions.

Stakeholder
• Liaising with customers in a responsive and client focused manner.
• Liaison with Clients and attendance at client meetings
• Preparation and presentation of progress and technical reports for discussion at meetings.

Management

• Responsible for completion of assigned tasks to time and cost.
• Adhering to the company’s Quality, Safety and Environmental procedures.
• Ensuring compliance with company CAD and Digital Engineering standards

People
• Taking responsibility for own development of new skills.


Requirements
Essential:

• A BTEC/HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering subject.
• Experience of Network Rail civil engineering design and projects.
• Experience of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) Highways Standards.
• Experience of preparing engineering sketches and plans from conception through to construction.
• Robust IT skills, proficient in the use of MS Office software, AutoCAD, Microstation and other related software packages.
• Ability to produce drawings containing 3D information (AECOsim, Civils 3D or REVIT)
• Ability to produce reinforcement bar bending schedules
• Proven ability to deliver work within set timeframes.
• Flexibility for occasional periods working away from normal office location including overseas assignments

Desirable:
• Knowledge of CADS-RC design and detailing software
• Knowledge of current Network Rail standards.
• Knowledge of current Highways England standards and conversant with the DMRB.
• Knowledge of structures design standards and Eurocode detailing rules

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
